one thing i want to add to "why did they change name from 3D to V, and didn't focus on 3D aspect from the announcement" discussion, is that they might want to market the HTC phones as "V" family, considering HTC One V is coming this summer.
Evo V=high-end. One V=low-end.

Sprint says that the change from Evo 3D to Evo V is an attempt to re-market the device on its own merits instead as just a 3D device.

I'm upgrading to the evo in a heart beat. No hesitation. Cheapest pan anywhere, great phone with 4g, and the best devs you can ask for switching to this phone. How could anyone say no?

If I don't get 4G in my area that's how I will say no.. No 4G play phone for me unless the rooted stuff it can do warrants it... I'm just starting to look now and I sure hope the exploits still work on the VM and BM variants of the big boy Genesis they were born of .. But with you all I ain't too worried

I sure hope we get 4G here where I live and this handset has a good radio/antenna as I could use the extra speed and space this handset offers over the OV and I really want it but,,, don't really need it in my world.. Wants and needs hate ummmm... Just wasn't born under the trust fund baby star and I'll wait on a special if I have to have it or do better elsewhere..

LOL still probably will get one I'm just trying to convince myself I can resist!! Just wish it was the non 3D phone Boost got but that the Design 4G or Evo jr as I like to say had the guts it's 3D big bro got.. I just hope I can ignore a handset that has more eyes than I do.. To me the rear of this phone stares at me and I don't like it.. But I have a idea to fix that so can you say case with a open/closed cam cover for the VM EVO V 4G??

I won't be getting 4g where I live but I'm most definitely getting the 3d! Its going to be awesome hopefully!

Looks like I'll be without a phone for 3 weeks while I wait to replace my bricked Opti V with an Evo V. Glad I read through the forums, was considering pulling the trigger on a Opti Slider or Triumph. Really looking forward to the awesome specs of the Evo!

Agreed that the specs are awesome on the 3D ( EVO V) over the ol OV weather you get 3G /4G whatever.. I'm just finding it harder to get your mindset @ this time /w 3G and $35.. But I have a phone and not a brick and that would motivate me lol! Just hope we get 4G on VM in my area or this becomes a lot harder for me in choosing a handset as my OV works perfectly.. A trip to the sprint store may be in order today.. Questions Questions??

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm probably going to grab an Elite once they hit the shelves in other stores. I realize it's not much of an upgrade from the OV, but I"m not much of a 'power user' and this seems to be everything I want at the price I want. I know could root and ROM to GB, but that still doesn't fix the internal storage limits of the OV.

With native app2sd internal storage that should not be a issue. Move apps that dont have widgets you use to the sdcard and there shouldnt be a problem.

If you don't have Wimax 4g in your area already, you never will.

They are slowly adding LTE to the same towers and will then expand from there, but only with LTE. Wimax is as big as it will ever likely get.

It will probably be two a year and a half to two years before we get LTE, by which time it should be expanded further than the current Wimax.


Odds are, in a year or so they will kill off the grandfathered plans.

Yep the $25 smartphone plans will be a thing of the past soon I agree.. Sad because we still just have $25 smartphone reception in my area and probably aways will imo..

Unfortunately I think you're right.

Considering at that point they would have left people grandfathered for 2 years (just as if you had a contract), I don't think people should really complain. They are prepaid and could have not even bothered, giving you the same benefits as a contract is pretty darn nice.
