Which ROM should I get if I want to send sms/mms, and have good battery life too? I know I can't semd MMS on the gingerbread roms. Or has that been fixed. I was thinking about getting IHO CM7 but IDK.

AlsoI heard with one of the roms the buttons on the bottom don't really work/are swapped. Which one is that?

.:EDIT:. Also Wifi hotspot is a must too.

I'm using Mirage build, wifi hotspot works, not sure about MMS (I'm using Google Voice for SMS), it may have broke on a few builds, but I don't think it's an ongoing problem. The button above the camera shutter button doesn't work yet, everything else does.

MMS has been working in gingerbread roms for the Optimus V for the past 4 or 5 months. back when AOSP was the cm7 rom of choice.

other than that. IHO really improved battery life for GB roms on the OV. the battery life on IHO is as good as any other rom you can find.

I have to join the crowd when it comes to IHO backside. It is the most stable I have tried and therefore what I use as an everyday driver.

Recently gave the ice cream sandwich themed rom a shot for some flavor and it was not bad but the screen on this thing is small enough without giving up more space for virtual buttons.

The one big caveat I have for the roms I have been trying lately is that none of them seem to allow you to have headphones plugged in and still use the phones microphone. This may sound nitpicky but I did this all the time back on froyo and I really miss it - now when I am getting my music, podcqst or audio books on and I get a call I have to remember to unplug the headphones before I answer - kind ofa pain. Other than that its solid as a rock for both me and my wife.

Strange as I couldn't use the phones microphone when I had head phones plugged in and I am on froyo lol

I cant do that on the GB ROM unless I use the headphone/mic combo that came with the phone, it may be because there's no mic on the headphones, idk.

Yeah same here. Unless it's something with GrooVeIP...I was using that when I tested it out.

I used the various IHO roms for about 2 months, and while they offer some new features I've found that Harmonia gives me the best battery life, performance, and reliability. With IHO, I had to reboot my phone every night or the phone would become slowly less and less responsive, and start having glitches. Harmonia is 100% stable, has better battery life, and no odd glitches. Once you add some apps to replace features missing in froyo (spare parts, themes, pull down power widget etc.) its just as good as an IHO rom but more stable. The only feature I miss of IHO is the smartass governor, which seemed to be more efficient than interactive on froyo.

I gotta agree too, Harmonia is the best rom for battery life and performance on the OV i've used. I'd rather stick to Froyo and have a stable phone with long lasting battery. At least until (if) LeslieAnn makes a GB variant of it.

She already did. ;)

BobZHome's ROM is one of 3 active IHO builds (Jerry's BACKside & Mirage are the others). They're very similar, so really not much difference. I would say Jerry's is the more "unique" IHO build, Bob & Mirage are more similar & plain IHO.

but theres hardly any mention of it :/ any ideas as to why?

in my experience, when I spend a whole day trying out the various "new" builds of IHO, I find BACKside to be the best, bobzhome always force closes randomly and reboots.

I find it easier to talk about the rom i use (backside) rather than waste any words on the one that didnt work.

im sure im not the only one

because she only made one build so far, back in August, and it was more of a testing build than anything (which is why it had the "beta" label). It was stable, but IIRC, she said it was far from what she wanted it to be. But don't quote me on that lol

I use Harmonia 1.7. Last charge from full 100% lasted 56 hours before it asked to be recharged at 12% after being used for:

~3 hours phone calls (2 1+ hours, assorted 20-30+ mins), ~40 mins of spider solitaire, ~30 mins of angry birds, and imo client using skype/aim connections for texting, 3 photos taken and emailed, amazon mobile app sporadically, and a 23 minute tv episode on netflix using Wifi (the rest were on 3G).

Using Juice Defender on aggressive, +1 on the excellent battery life on this rom.

I'm on the BobZhome build. I've been using it for a month and am happy with it. Get the latest build.
