Which version of Android did you start with? Which version are you using today?

1.6 Donut, on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i, and now I'm on 7.0 Nougat on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

It has been amazing watching this OS grow, now looking back and realising just how rough the old days were, but from day 1 I realised this OS was for me due to the incredible hardware and customisability of the UI and OS.

I remember how people thought the 4inch 245ppi Display on my X10 was so incredibly big and crisp, but from that point I already knew where Smartphones were headed, and knew that in time many of them would eventually leave their Symbian and Blackberry Smartphones for the huge slab Androids.

Heck, I remember the good old days when i referred to Android 4.1.2 as the latest version of Android.... The nostalgia....

I bought my first Android in 2011, an LG Optimus V. It was running Froyo. Today I'm on Nougat on a Samsung Galaxy S8+ (SM-G955U).

The exact version of Android you’re using isn’t the only important information. If you want to get help for a specific device, its manufacturer is also important — for example, Samsung’s version of Android include the TouchWiz interface, many Samsung apps, and extensive interface modifications performed by Samsung.

Microsoft doesn’t allow PC manufacturers to change the way the Windows Start menu, taskbar, and Control Panel works, but Google lets Android device manufacturers run wild and change almost anything they want. Different devices from the same manufacturer will also have different customizations, so knowing the exact device you’re using — as well as its manufacturer is crucial when trying to get information or even custom ROMs for a specific device online.

2.2 Froyo on HTC EVO 4G in 2010

6.0.1 Marshmallow on ZTE Zmax Pro currently

First Android phone, Sprint HTC Hero, running 1.5 Donut.
Today LG V20 running N, 7.0

So good to see this thread being revived and still going. I'm still very new to the Android world, been learning so so much over the past 3 months. Started with Android 5.0 Lollipop for around 2 hours, then upgraded to 6.0 Marshmallow 😃

Hopefully I'll still be around when we get all the way to 'Z' maybe for 'zabiglone'!

1st Android device was a Nook Color. I rooted it and flashed various Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs.

I installed CM9 on it (ice cream sandwich) but the hardware couldn't handle it.

First i used Android kitkat 4.4 version on Samsung Galaxy and now i am using Android Lollipop 5.0.2 version on Lenovo Mobile.

I started on Cupcake 1.5 with the HTC Hero...

Oh man! That was a truly legendary phone! Probably the first proper Android that put Android on the map globally as a serious OS.

I remember Noah Kravitz from Phonedog raving about this phone, I watched endless comparisons of it to iPhone3GS, Palm Pre, HTC HD2, Nokia N900 etc etc...

Playing around with Gingerbread got me interested in Android but my very first Android device ran ice cream sandwich. Currently I am using Marshmallow on my main phone and Nougat on my work phone.
