Whitestone Dome Pre-orders S10 Phones

Got my tracking number from Whitestone a couple of days ago and all I got so far is Pre Shipment and no movement. :-\

Ok after this long unpleasant process from ordering directly from whitestone, I received my dome glass today in the mail. I installed it pretty simple enough (I have had their products on other android phones) and the fingerprint scanner actually worked without having to reregister. However I knew that you are supposed to register once you apply screen so I deleted all my fingerprints and now it wont read my thumb print with the screen on when I try to register them. What the heck?? I cant be doing anything wrong as I have already done this plenty of before when I first got the s10+. Anyone else having this issue??

Ok so I figured out how to fix but I have to press really hard for fingerprint to register. Like white knuckle hard. Is anyone else having this issue or do I have a dud?

I am having the same issue with mine. It was very hard to register and recognition is very poor <20%. It is pretty much unusable. My installation went perfectly two days ago and still looks perfect two days later. Currently have the same thumb saved 4 different times.

I'm definitely not ordering it now until Whitestone addresses it or at least I hear more good reviews.

Ok glad Im not alone. All the youtube reviews seem to have this thing out to be the next best thing since sliced bread. Not sure if we just got duds or not. I will try to reach out to whitestone but as mentioned previously they have done a horrible job at responding.

Whitestone Dome updated the instruction on how to install the screen protector. 1st curing is 15s with bottom then top, NEXT: press for 1 minute on the fingerprint area, curing 60s on bottom then same on top, Repeat last step one more time. Hope this helps.

Thanks but too little too late. I ended up taking the damn thing off. First time Im using phone without any screen protector and the speed of the sensor is light years faster. Going to contact whitestone about a replacement since these things come with lifetime warranties. How do they update the process of applying it AFTER release? Smh They need to make this right for sure

Good luck getting a replacement from Whitestone. Their customer service BLOWS.
Mine will be here on Friday and I think I'll stick with the factory protector for now.

So surprisingly even though the Whitesone site says my order is still processing i got it in the mail today. Thanks for the updated instructions alert. I'll have to try it.

EDIT:

Okay, so i installed it. First time doing so I was a bit meticulous especially with the dust removal. I've seen enough vids so I knew what to do. A flat surface is a bit of a guess so once the liquid poured it started going to the left a bit. I moved everything around to the point i was sure it was on a flat surface and installed the dome glass.

So following the new YT instructions they posted on their site i put the UV on the bottom for 15 secs, then up top for 15 seconds.

I removed the phone, wiped out the side ( I did not sense any excess liquid) and pressed the fingerprint area for a minute with pressure. I had the phone on the floor so it was definitely allowing a solid pressure point to be placed. I then cured for 60 secs bottom and top and then repeated. I felt i did this longer just to give the curing a bit more time.

I then powered back up the phone, removed the 2 existing fingerprints i had then created my first. It was hard to push but I don't think it was any harder then the first time you set it up when you got your phone.

Tested it and especially with Samsung pay. It works but i can see if you place your thumb the samsung pay virtual card moves up a bit so it is someone sensing movement in that area. I do feel i have to push with some force though to get the fingerprint to read but at least the fingerprint still works.

I then added a second fingerprint. I think i will need some more time to evaulate whether it gets better at reading my fingerprint the longer it naturally cures.

I only bought the one pack so I only had one shot at doing this. Fortunately it was clean, no dust and i made sure the front cameras on my plus model lined up on the camera hole. You only have a short window once you release the tab that is stopping the dome glass from touching the liquid to shift things around quickly.

Oh yeah, my Spigen Tough Armour case still works and fits nicely withoug messing with the screen protector.

Has anyone else's pre-order been stuck on "Pre-Shipment - label created" status? Mine's been like that since March 8th with no movement whatsoever.

Mine was the same way and it took about a week to show up in the USPS tracking system. Mine should be here Friday but I'm going to ride it out with the factory one for a while.

Ordered directly from Whitestonedome.com and had them in hand way before the S10 Plus arrived. Watched more videos, and installed last Saturday. Can't get the FPS to work and have deleted and redone fingerprints at least 3 times. NOW I see Whitestone Dome added a new YouTube video posted yesterday with a couple extra steps. After the initial UV cure, remove phone and clean with alcohol swab. Then press over FPS firmly for 1 minute. Then do the 2nd cure, at least 60 seconds over 2-3 sections of phone, and repeat x1. Plan to use the 2nd screen protector in my kit with this additional info. Will post results later. Be well!

Let us know how the install goes? I'm still very on the fence because of the cost. I definitely need a glass screen protector but my FPS is working great and I'm worried that the whitestone will mess with it like others have voiced.

What is their return policy if there are issues like that?

I finally got my Whitestone and plan to install it tonight. I've installed 3 of these so far without issue but I am concerned how the glass will impact the FPS based. The Amazon reviews are not comforting, anyone who has installed one on their S10 or S10+ want to share their experience with FPS impact?

I have no issues with fingerprint not working with whitestone. I have noticed that usually if I have a misread it was because I used the tip of my finger instead.

I will probably just hold off until there are more positive reviews or someone else comes out with a cheaper alternative.

I realized I have phone protection so if for some reason I drop it and crack the screen I only pay a $30 deductible which isn't that bad.

Okay so here is my experience after using the Whitestone Dome Glass for my s10+. About 2 weeks after installation i noiced the top part by the camera cutout was starting to whiten or the glue was not making contact. At the same time i had to put a lot of pressure or the fingerprint reader wasn't working as reliably. I then made the decision to take off the dome glass and start again. Fortuanately i was able to peel it off without it breaking . I used alcohol to completely clean off any glue from the glass and the phone. I then procedeed to reinstall but this time after placing the glass over the glue and it spread out i held the phone vertically and let the excess glue drip out. Any air bubbles that formed i spread to the side and now there is a very thin layer of the adhesive between the glass and phone. I pressed down on the fingerprint reader area for 1 minute. UV cured and man the fingerprint reader is sensitive, almost like the dome glass was not there. Time will tell but i'm wondering if the amount of glue plays a factor on the fingerprint reader issues and this dome glass.

You all are brave. I think I may watch the videos and read some more of your experiences (and hope the stock protector holds up).

Please update us on your experience as to if the protector stays secured with the thinner glue layer. Seems it ought not matter and your strategy makes sense. Expecting my S10 next week and considering the Whitestone, but the whole FPS thing is concerning. Thanks for sharing
