Whitestone Dome Screen Protector installed S10 plus: First Impressions

I read something about it somewhere, that it is designed so that when it is removed the adhesive sticks to the protector rather than the phone. I don't know how they do it, but rest assured, there was absolutely nothing on my phone at all.

I can confirm that as well. No residue.

Sigh... I think I'm getting buyer's remorse with this whole curved-screen and ultrasonic fingerprint thing...
Can anyone confirm whether the Whitestone is compatible with an Armadillo/Unicorn type of kickstand case?

This has not been my experience with the Whitestone Dome that I installed two days ago. As soon as I had it installed I tried registering my prints again and I swear it wouldn't acknowledge even one press in a hundred. Somehow I managed to register both thumbs (it took forever) but I am having horrible inaccuracy. Mine was working great with the pre-installed. I'm almost ready to remove this and just not use anything.

Oh, and it won't EVER unlock now unless I wet my thumb first. Ever.

I've already emailed the company.
This is my same experience. Very frustrating.

Register it on their website and then put in a warranty claim. I got my replacement but I haven't installed it yet. Honestly, I am liking my phone a lot better without it but I'll probably install it this weekend and give it another try. If I have the same experience I'll just remove it and go without.

So I can report after I removed my mine and reapplied the glue and let it drip (holding the phone more than 45 degrees) the fingerprint sensor it working really well. I am confident a thin sheet of adhesive and pressing down on the fingerprint reader area before the UV step really helps. By the way i had to remove my initial install because the Spigen Tough Armor case is causing the left side to lift a bit. Otherwise i rather have some tempered glass protection than a plastic one.

Let it drip? I just followed the installation video which added pressing the fingerprint area to the original instructions. Mine responds exactly the same as the factory protector which worked great for me.

Can you give a clearer description of how you did this drip thing? Perhaps a photo or two?

TIA!

So, I carefully installed the Dome, reviewed video and written instructions multiple times, made my own cheat sheet that had print big enough for me to actually read, did it exactly as instructed, two thumbs on the sensor, the whole thing. Would hardly even accept thumbprints when I tried to reregister them, got each thumbprint once after many, many, many, many attempts (FPS was quick and easy and works 95% of the time on first press with original protector), gave up after about a hundred presses and never getting beyond 70% on second round of thumbprints. Will not unlock with sensor. I will pull off and try with the second one tomorrow, too PO'd right now, but for now I definitely would NOT recommend this.

Just strange how it works for some and not for others. Almost sounds like there may be issues with variances in the screens.

I had the same exact experience, did everything according to their installation video, pressed down on the sensor for over 90 seconds, then fully cured it. It was horrible trying to add fingerprints but finally did. It would only work if I licked my finger first, which is ridiculous. So I put in a warranty claim and they promptly sent me a new one, which I installed over the weekend. Same thing with the replacement. I am removing it today and won't try another.

Just ordered my 3rd replacement from Whitestone. Same problem with each replacement. It eventually accepts the fingerprint but is never able to read it when I try to access my phone. The cover is the best around if you don't care about the fingerprint reader. I have given up and ordered a two pack of the cover that came on the phone, from Samsung for $20.00 .

I did it weeks ago so the opportunity to record a video has passed but essentially after installing it as normal, i held the phone vertically to let the excessive glue drip out the bottom carefully wiping away the adhesive and not letting it get to the bottom ports, speaker etc. This created a thin layer of glue between the dome glass and display. There were some air pockets but you can press down on the dome glass and smooth out the bubbles. I then held my finger down the fingperprint area for a minute and then put on the UV lamp to cure the glue.

This resulted to me a normal response to the fingerprint reader then when you did not have the dome glass at all on. Just my theory in getting the fingerprint reader to work better, the less thickness of glue between the dome glass and display the better.

I just followed the Whitestone directions and mine works exactly the same as the factory installed.

I'm a fan of Whitestone but not on this phone. I'm on my second application with the same results as the 1st installation. It is an absolute chore to get a fingerprint registered and once entered, the scanner rarely recognizes my fingerprint on the 1st try. Takes at least 3 attempts. And, the very tippy top of the screen protector is foggy just like on the 1st install. It doesn't affect anything when the screen is on but it is annoying to see when the screen is off.

The pic below is a near perfect install except for the obvious. The dust is on top of protector.

480 reviews (s10+ model) on Amazon and more 1 star reviews than 5 star reviews so basically 50/50 if it works?

Maybe Whitestone should have done a larger sampling in development to see if their product works 100% or if there is just so much variance between phones that it's gonna be a 50/50 thing.

I wonder how thick of glass they are using? Maybe they should go a little thinner compared to what they used in previous models for the ultrasonic sensor to have a better chance.

I think it's all in the thumbs. If you have fat greasy thumbs than then the FPS scanner works fine. Clean dry thumbs fuhgeddaboudit.
