Who else cancelled their Google Pixel 6 Pro order?

Under screen fingerprint scanners suck lol. Overcomplicated, less reliable, and more expensive to replace the screen/scanner if it breaks. The scanner on the back is a much better design in my opinion :p

I think glass for the back is just asking for trouble. It almost makes getting a case mandatory. I was disappointed when I first read the Pixel 6 line will have glass backs and an under screen finger print scanner. Love the back scanner on my 4a.
Oh well.

The article I read said the glass back was for wireless charging. Yet my P5 has wireless charging and no glass back. On the P5 the wireless charging is on the outside of the aluminium frame, actually there's a hole in the frame it sits in, then Google covered it in the recycled plastic. Plus it has the rear finger print reader. The glass back on the P6 might be for the higher wireless charging current of the new Pixel stand. It's the only logical reason I can think of. 23 watts on the new Pixel stand versus 10 watts on the old model.

Lens flare; really? Try this...it's from my Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 VR Lens; used to prevent lens flare.

I was just about to dig out the hood for my Nikon 28-300mm lens and post the same thing. LOL

I am pro rear fingerprint scanners. Sadly, this is the way now. Perhaps the A series will keep it.

I with you guys who favor the rear FPS. I think the glass on back is for the more perceived premium feel. I've watched a lot of phone reviews. While I enjoy them for the most part, I blame them some for some of the manufacturing decisions companies make when building phones.

If you cancel the phone and paid with Google financing, do you simply return the free ear buds that were received, or do they just charge you $100 and tell you to keep them?

What is wrong with the excellent fingerprint scanner on the back of older phones? It seems as though manufacturers are obsessed with building an under glass sensor just to say they can. I see zero advantage to a slower, more complex design.

I agree. fps on the back is very fast and always works. fps on the front often requires me to first swipe my finger across my oily forehead and then apply to fps, which leaves a nasty smudge on the screen. yuk.

Hard for me to cancel with T-Mobile's awesome trade in promo. Purchased an iphone 8 plus to get the pro for free. Will gladly wait until my pro ships. Also did jod to a regular 6 until then. I have a serious technology addiction

Heavy criticism is what I believe made Samsung mostly move away from their plastic designs even though I found them to be well made and out of quality material. I think going glass back also helped them establish their curved design which is something I don't think they would've been able to accomplish with the polycarbonate bodies that they were previously using.

Advantage is not having to pick the phone up to interact with it. In order to use the rear fingerprint you have to pick up the phone. Also the rear doesn't work with wet fingers while the front (at least the ultrasonic one does). The only problem I have is how the front scanner doesn't work well with all tempered glass screen protectors. The fps works very well with the invisibleshield screen protectors but they are so expensive now it's ridiculous.

I don't have to pick up the phone to interact with it in my car it is in a holder I can easily reach behind and on my desk a kickstand. Fast on means more to me than maybe on maybe try again. I would never touch my phone with wet hands.

At least you've given a rationale but works fast every time means more to me. The under glass fps is a fad like curved glass at the edges. I hate both.

I agree, a vocal minority. Offer the exact same specs in a phone that weighs less and costs less and see who the majority is. Most of us use a case anyway

Under display is actually LESS complex from a manufacturing standpoint.

It's one less (very large) hole in the casing, which is one more seal to potentially fail to provide an ingress point for dust and water.

Went to local Best Buy last night to see the new Pixels in person.
Was not impressed TBH.
Maybe the reviewers hyped it up too much for me.
They just did not feel that premium and, on both models, the UI had hitches in it opening/closing apps which kind of surprised me.

I was blown away by the Galaxy Z Fold 3 though. I decided a huge folding phone with a gorgeous screen is what I want next.

To be fair to the Pixel phone, you can't go by the BestBuy models.. they are running that demo mode and you can barely use the UI to do anything on them. I know because I was there plenty before I received my phone in hand.. I do love my fold! It's a great device and you should definitely pick one of those up if you get a chance. There's some deals floating around very, very fun phone. Great build! Awesome speakers. You can't lose

Canceling is really looking like it's an increasingly wise decision with all the issues popping up. Should've known Google couldn't manage a fully baked product.

If you hate Google so much why hang out in the pixel forum? Why use a phone with Google software? Why not become an iPhone zombie?

All asked in fun with a bit of sincerity.

I had a samsung S20 plus that had more problems than reported on the P6, but I just reported that, sent the POS back and ended with a 4XL that has had no problems. However, I don't hang out in samsung forums knocking their phones, which if you look over there are far from trouble free.
Again, all I jest. :)
