I have another year and a half on my ATT contract.. I had the S3 for 3 months then sold it for the n4...

I was jw everyone else's experience?

I know my speed tests suck. And I can never seem to get a accurate cell signal.

I do also. My note 2 is my daily driver. I use the N4 on the weekends primarily. I think the speeds are faster than the speed test would indicate. When I am using data it seems OK. Nothing like the LTE though.

I doubt I would use the N4 if I could only have one phone. It is OK for a few days at a time but I would not give up LTE for it full time. I sold my S3 for my note 2. Not sure I would have for the N4.

On post paid att contract til Feb of 2014. I live in Richmond and get around 8-10 mb down with speedtest. I don't have any real cell signal issues I didn't have before on my iPhone 4S (only issue is in school or cement building that I also lost signal on the iPhone)

Have you changed your APN settings or using default?

I've been using mine on postpaid for a few months now and I changed my data plan and APN settings and my speed test suck also but I feel it has mainly to do with the app but also the fact that I may have hspa+ out here but its not fully rolled out or expanded yet.

I usually get 1-2 Mbps on the network. I haven't minded it so far though so you should be good.

AT&T post paid here as well. Only had my Vivid for 8 months when I got my N4. At home I get about 3-5 mbs. As I get closer to the nearest big city, it jumps closer to 10-12 mbs. More than enough for me. Still alot faster than my AT&T U-verse wifi at home.

I am also on post paid and my MMS sucks. AT&T said its probably because its not a "Official AT&T" phone.

Im waiting for the S4 or will maybe get the Note 2 instead. Time will tell

I use my Nexus 4 on AT&T post paid and have had no issues at all. I've had it since December 31. I'm located in the metro Grand Rapids, Michigan area and my downloads... according....to Speedtest.net... range anywhere from 9.1mbps to 14.4 mbps.

I am. I used AT&T post-paid and T-Mobile prepaid side-by-side for two full months. With T-Mobile, I would hit between 12 and 20 down at home. With AT&T at the same times, I'd get between 5 and 9 down. Could I tell a difference between the two? Honestly, I could barely tell...not enough to dump AT&T's better national coverage. AT&T had superior ping rates too. Since I have a corporate discount with AT&T, I'm sticking with them for now.

If you are having MMS issues, you are doing it wrong. If you can't get Speedtest to work correctly, you are also doing it wrong. The proper APN settings are listed on this forum and about a billion others. Do some research.

Exactly... and right off the bat... if you are using anything entered by the AT&T store in your settings your wrong. I took my phone to the AT&T store to get it activated. Within a week on this forum I had the CORRECT APN settings and of course faster speeds. With the AT&T store settings Speedtest.net couldn't even register my network speeds. I love this forum!!

Probably because AT&T only supports HSPA+21, while T-Mobile has HSPA+42.

I'm using the Nexus 4 on AT&T post-paid. I got it only because my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket had major problems. The only thing I don't like about the Nexus 4 is no LTE. My area just got LTE in December and then my GS2 decided to act up in January. I was just starting to enjoy LTE on the Skyrocket. Good thing is I'm eligible to upgrade in July or August. Contract is up in December. I'll see what phones are out by end of summer. I should keep the Nexus 4 for a while since I just dropped all this money on the 16GB and wireless charger. Other than slow network speeds (HSPA) I love the Nexus 4.

I wish I could use AT&T but as you can see in the screen shots, data speeds are BAD. The first cap is from my iPhone 4S, the second is from my Nexus 7 using an AT&T data only sim. This is at home. When I leave home, I can get anywhere from these speeds in the caps and up to 9Mbps. The first two tests in each cap are from AT&T while I am at home. T-Mobile is better in every way in my area.

Same here. Tried the T-mobile 30 dollar plan side by side with my Nokia 920 on AT&T. T-mobile is fast, 6-17 mbps down, but the coverage is still lacking. Text messages a little slow, and call quality not quite up to AT&T. So i finished my month with T-mobile and did not re-up. Moved the Nexus 4 to AT&T, and am selling my Nokia 920. I get 6-11 down with better ping here in Charlotte, NC. Contract up next yr, but as long as my bill stays at 60 a month i'll stay with big blue.

I'm using an AT&T plan and hitting around 7 down/2up. I gave up the Note and LTE and don't miss it. T-Mobile may be faster but I'm still clinging to my unlimited data plan.

Run, do NOT walk, and get a Nexus 7. You can thank me later.

I have been Post-paid with at&t for approximately 24 years, originally with McCaw Cellular and lived through the subsequent acquisition and mergers.

Coverage is better than T - Mobile once one leaves the major metro area, speed is decent on Faux 4G, not as good as T - Mobile, but certainly use able.

Personally, I am unwilling to give up my Grandfathered Unlimited DATA plan for now, unless T - Mobile's coverage improves drastically with their proposed reverse merger with MetroPCS, which only time will tell.

That said, once one finds the best APN settings and figures out how to work within the at&t systems to get what they need in terms of the correct DATA plan (etc.) , the better coverage is big plus for at&t

Meh. I did, but here it is for the lazy anyway;) Now that I looked for it. Thanks for the heads up (even though it seems my Tmobile default is fine).
