Who else will be ditching their S5 for the iPhone 6 ?????

Apple is too restrictive, they force you to do stuff that suits them, rather than facilitate options that suit you...

I love my home screen clean, it's bad enough I can't add widgets but to have no control where we want to place the icons, not even have them all in the dock is ridiculous. LOL

If I'm going to jump to Apple to get specs Samsung has enjoyed for the last couple of years, I might as well stay with Samsung.

I have an iPhone for work and I cannot stand iOS.. I'd rather go back to a feature phone tbh.

Samsung for iPhone 6? Yeah I'd seriously consider it. Samsung for an HTC, Moto, Sony android? In a heartbeat.

I'd in all seriousness consider a Nokia lumia over a Samsung android. I dislike Samsung's android software that much.

Five years deep in Android, would download, compile source, put my own cherry picks in for my phone OS, and on a lark gave WP8.1 a try. Four Lumias later (each one for a very short time, and now am very happy with my 1520) and I haven't looked back since. It's by FAR the most stable mobile OS out, and for those of you that will throw the "there's not enough apps in the WP app store" argument out there...With over 300,000 apps, I have yet come across anything i used on Android phone I can't find on the WP appstore. Now my tablet is a different story, and I'll stick with android on that ;)

I just want from an iPhone 5C to a G3.. Have been an iPhone user since the first iPhone and like everyone else I grew bored of it. The 6 will basically be the same thing just with a bigger screen... I still have my iPad air and iMac so G3 it is!!

I feel strongly that nobody should be too committed to any one device or platform.

I left the iPhone about 18 months ago because of the small display and overly fragile build.
My Nexus 5 is wonderful...I like the plain plastic build...but the display isn't the best, and the 32GB limit sucks.
My Note 3 is also great, but I hate the "fake" design (fake brushed aluminum, fake chrome, fake leather), and TouchWiz sucks (better with Wanam Xposed, though).

Android has been great. It is permanently within the range of devices I'll consider if they're good enough.
I think with iOS 8, we are getting close to feature parity.
It would not be an affirmative abandonment of Android - it would be a recognition of another good product that works for me.
I do not give a crap about X copying Y, or who did X first. It's about the device and that's it.

I will be getting the iPhone 6 on day one. Something about IOS that keeps me coming back. The fact that every family member I have uses an iPhone doesn't hurt either.

I had an iphone 4S for the longest time and was getting tired of my friends with the bigger screens on their android phones. So I bought a S4 and love it. I could have gotten the S5 but the S4 fits my needs. Now will I switch over to the iPhone 6 will depend on the specs.
If they do come out with a 4.7 and a 5.5 and they make the 5.5 their so called flagship phone ( which I'm sure they will ), I'm not sure if I'm wanting to make another jump to even a bigger phone. The S4/S5 has imho the perfect screen size.
So if the so called 4.7" iPhone 6 has nothing really great to offer, ( think 5C vs 5S ), I'll stick with my Samsung for now.

I had m7 then g2 then m8 then s5, I loved the s5 but then discoverd the g3 and there is no way I'm giving this beast up anytime soon,I don't think the question should be s5 vs iPhone 6 but s5 vs the rest of android, Samsung you may have the most sales but you will be caught soon, I don't care by whobas long as its ANDROID FTW!

Nope. I like to be able to customize without jail breaking. Plus, iOS is too locked down.

I have had every major Android since the HTC Hero and every iPhone since the 3G. For those saying they do not like Apple's locked down OS. Lot's of users don't like Samsung's lag. "No matter what you say it lags, so does the G3, only the Nexus and M8 have little to no lag. For those saying they don't like Apple's business practices. There are lots of users that enjoy walking into an Apple store and having their device repaired or replaced. Have you had repairs done to your phone? Samsung's repair turn around is 1.5 weeks. HTC is two weeks. How do I know? I sent an S4 to Samsung and an M7 to HTC for repairs. For those saying the iPhone 6 is just catching up with specs. You do realize the iPhone 5s is faster at most task than the S5. Don't believe me, just read comparison reviews and watch hands on testing on youtube. The iPhone 6 will be faster by a large margin.

My S5 will be retired by the iPhone 6.

I just left my 5S for an S5. I've had two other iPhone before that one as well. There's no way I could see myself going back to the iPhone at this point. It's just so... Boring. The new iPhone will be nothing more than a larger version of the last iPhone. Meh.

I'm sticking with Android.

I'm some one who buys phones off contract, and Apple products are so overpriced. IPhone 6 doesn't really offer me something Android does not provide.

I find all kinda mobile phones are pretty much the same these days. Aside from different manufacturers' gimmicks, all I have to pick are which features are important to me and which has a better design.

So here's what I have summarized when I'm making a choice

iphone
- 99% stable performance
- more premium apps (and reach ios first before android, not exactly important)
- less customization (important to me)
- boring designs both software and hardware (when I buy something I want it completely new. I almost, always switch brands when I upgrade my phones)
- great unifying experience if you have other Mac products (I dont')
- lotsa accessories to choose from (manufacturers and third parties)
- Great product support
- Overall Apple products are all about paying

Galaxy S5
- 95% stable performance
- boring design (worse than Apple and other Android manufacturers imo, especially softwares. Designers have no taste in choosing the right colours palette, in most cases they use too much colour which make the interface extremely childish and too much going on at the same time. No sense of placing buttons and options in menus for better user friendliness too)
- lotsa accessories to choose from (not as much as Apple maybe, but enough)
- allows customization (just like most Android)
- not so great product support (comparing to other Android manufacturers, HTC and Sony are the best so far imo)

I'm looking forward to the Note 4 tho. As a heavy sketching and note taking person, the S-pen plus palm rejection is one thing I could look pass most of the flaws. I used to be all about design and looks but since I got the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 I learnt to like something I find ugly. Functionality>design FTW ;]

I've seriously had EVERY iPhone since day 1, last November I was curious about Android because I was bored of iOS, bought a Nexus 7 then a Nexus 5, if your a techie like myself Android is a no brainer, iOS is great for business or if you just text, email, make phone calls ie my mom and dad. I will say iOS app are a lot more polished which I liked, I prob will get the iPhone 6 but I wouldn't consider it switching because I will in turn get the Nexus 6 & sell my iPhone, more of a business investment but maybe I'll like it, only time will tell... BTW I love the nexus line.

If I had one I wouldn't dare, if you got an S5 this year you got it for a reason. iOS couldn't pull me away from the freedom of Android no matter how much the screen got bigger or how much iOS has changed.

If they were the only two options I had (Galaxy S5 or iPhone 6), I probably would pick the iPhone.

Reasons for me:

- iOS is smoother and faster than a Touchwiz'd Galaxy phone (speed and smoothness to me are of utmost importance)
- The design and feel of the iPhone I much prefer than the Galaxy plastics
- I prefer iOS 8's design aesthetic over the Galaxy S5's Touchwiz design
- I'm not interested in rooting/flashing and all that nonsense. The phone should be lightning quick and useable out of the box, not only after voiding your warranty.
- I find the iPhone always to have a really great all-round camera. Just something about it seems to take better shots than what I get on Android phones for me.

The only benefits of the Galaxy S5 for me would be its integration with Google's services, which is really useful. But outside of that, I feel the iPhone is a better product.

Different horses for courses of course. People have different opinions, but for me, if they were the only two options available to me, I'd pick up the iPhone.

Since 2010, Apple has lost much ground in new tech, preferring to hold onto a stale device. While the 6 will certainly be a phenomenal change for Apple users, it is not earth shattering for Android users. Not even a small shake.

I'd rather have many choices in new tech than a single choice with an iPhone.

I would have never considered switching to an iphone in the past but I must admit, I'm open to the idea this year. Like you said iOS8 has some new features that definitely can and will definitely draw some android users away that didnt want to lose their widgets, ok google (apple is introducing "hey siri"), battery stats, interactive notifications, predictive keyboards (swype, swiftkey, and others), and good cloud system. Now Apple has those things, not to mention the bigger screen. HUGE move by Apple!!! Much more appealing to an Android user now.

And for me all my friends and family have iMessage always making me the odd one out with the Android. So Apple has me in that department too. I still love Android and its Googly goodness but the new iOS8 features, plus the bigger screen, and a nice jailbreak could complete the iphone for me. As for now without the jailbreak, the iPhone 6 is a no go. But with it, I would considerably think about switching. For now though, I'm waiting on the Galaxy Note 4 :)
