Who else will be ditching their S5 for the iPhone 6 ?????

I'm moving back. My main method of communication is texting and Hangouts is just terrible. Worst app ever. Other than that the S5 has been good to me. It has tons of features for the tech savvy.

What's wrong with hangouts? It works pretty well for me.

No reason not to go back to iOS if that experience is what's desired. Just like my Kawasaki ZX-14R, for many, it's just too much. Some need/want a Ninja 300...or an iPhone.

Have had two iPhones 4 and 5. 6 months a peice. Couldn't stand the small screens. Also not much in customizing them. So no I will not be switching.

Long story short, I plan to switch back to iPhone 6 if the hardware rumors are true. The "only" thing I will miss from the S5 is the expandable memory.

I admire the iPhone, iOS 8, and Apple. However, there are 2 android phones right now that have surpassed iPhone in every advantage an iPhone has ever had over android: quality, reliability, performance. Those are the only 3 areas where iPhone had a leg up until now. In other areas like capabilities and features pretty much every android has always bested the iPhone. All Apple really has left now is the ability to enter a physical Apple Store for service.

I'm not going to actually name the two phones in order to fend off the usual responses, but I will name 2 android handset makers that have been on my don't buy list since 2011: Samsung and LG. Their entire business culture seems to revolve around making a "me too" product and doing it on the cheap to save money while adding superficial but poorly done blingy features to get a quick easy buy from people. Just like
Hyundai cars and cheap MMO knockoffs.

The entire impression I get from a Samsung or LG phone reminds me a lot of a Hyundai. It LOOKS as good as a Honda as long as you don't know anything about cars. Except for the inferior drive train, suspension, engine, and overall QC. But hey it's a couple of thousand less, what a deal! It's just a sleazy business culture. I'd actually feel dirty buying one.

I might. I have to see what Apple brings to the table first. A bigger screen and SwiftKey are two big pluses for me. If the camera is kick azz, I'll probably jump.

It seems incorrect and plain cruel to liken Samsung and LG phones to Hyundai...but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I really wanted to switch to android but the more I read on this forum about all the problems these phone have I'm leaning back towards boring Apple. For as much as these phones cost I can't see myself dealing with petty things like Bluetooth connectivity issues and email notification problems.

I like ios and android. Was a die hard iphone user. Got the s5 now love it only thing I could possibly consider switching to is NOTE 4 in my HeMan voice.

Ditched the s5 and went back to my note 3. Somewhere in between I had a 5S also, couldn't stand the tiny screen. I like both iOS and android, which is why I have an iPad. I'll stick with my Note 3

Agreed. My G2 has a screen issue. My carrier said getting it fixed for free on warranty will take between 4-6 weeks. They'll happily lend me a flip phone in the mean time... Wow!

Had I had an iPhone, they'd lend me an iPhone right then and there, or I could have gotten it fixed directly at an apple store.

In the mean time I've decided to use my wife's recently retired 4S. I hate the small screen, but it's better than a flip phone. I'll also concentrate on the actual software; if I can find ways to organize my workflow with the limited notifications abilities and if Google now works half decently I'm getting a 6...

Android is just as trouble - free or troublesome as iOS. The difference is that you can really molest android and that can lead to undesired results...much of which you read about in these forums. I'm rather confident that if you use android and iOS in the same manner you'll find the experience to be largely similar insofar as reliability and stability. IMO, android doesn't have to be molested to be appreciated or enjoyed. You don't need to root and change ROMs. However, for those that are willing to deal with the potential consequences, the ability to do so can be a great attractant to the platform...and yield spectacular results. For the large large large user - base that doesn't need to molest their phone in every conceivable fashion iOS is quite fulfilling, as can be android. I must admit, though, that I truly appreciate the flexibility of android and the 5.7" of display I currently enjoy.

That is any phone, please don't perpetuate myths. If you are on a forum of course there will be more people saying they have problems than those who say "this phone is awesome". There is no patting on the back around here like Apple oriented forums.

To think iOS is immune to the same kind of problems you mentioned is crazy. If anything, I would say WP has more problems than any OS. Go to WPCentral and see how many complaints you see or how Nokia has quality control issues, no seriously, it is well known the 1520 has touch screen issues, and the Icon has WiFi issues.

I have never known an Android device to have widespread issues like that. If you want to switch to Android that is fine, but if you are hesitant to do so, have better reasons than that. Also, as always if you don't like the phone you can return or sell it, the beauty of economics.

So basically you are saying that if people post problems about Android in an internet forum it is a myth, whereas if people post problems about Windows Phone in an internet forum it is legit. Yeah, you're not biased at all, lol.

Lol, I recently asked a question on iMore about people's thoughts on paying $700 for an iPhone vs a highly specced android phone like the 1+1 for half the cost. The response I received was 6(!) pages of iOS vs Android answers, me being told I can't ask my own question the way I did because it was all about iOS vs android, along with liberal sprinkling of high 5's all around. I ended up regretting not just doing my own research like I usually do.

And yeah, you're spot on about Nokia. Nokia USED to have a big rep for high QC... years ago. They're not any better than any of the big 5 android brands now though, and haven't been since WP7 first appeared.
