Who has gone from Droid to Eris? Any regreats?

@mrfarinhight: Point taken ;)

On another note, it will be interesting to see if we can overclock the Eris, once rooted. I think the MotoDroid processor has been overclocked to about 1ghz, or so... hmmm???

I switch from Droid to Eris and haven't missed much from the Droid. Some apps where a little faster, but not enough so that I would care a whole lot.

I have eris and my girl has droid, and yes there is definite speed difference. but I believe that speed difference is due to like most people that posted here, is os. 1.5 definitely doesn't handle sense well so thus the lag. I don't think its a CPU problem but a def os problem. With 2.1 right around the corner for eris,this lagginess should go away. I had bb storm1,and it was awful at release with lots of lag. With latest os upgrade ,storm ran like a champ with zero lag . I believe storm and eris have similar processors if I'm not mistaken. Keyboard on HTC is also much better. Also HTC sense is a far more polished looking os than Droids stock. Ide wait and see with update that eris is about to get, how well eris will run . (hopefully)....

Wow, I am glad I found this thread. I am in the same boat. I have a Droid, but the form factor and dedicated phone and end buttons are very compelling features of the Eris, however the Droid just smokes anything I throw at it, and I'm hesitant to make the switch. Sense is not a factor for me, as I am quite happy with my stock three home screens. The keyboard is also not an issue, as I rarely use it. I can type much faster on the screen. So I too am lost. I do love my Droid. Cheers!

Well if you love it, keep it! No sense in switching if you are happy. You weighed the pros and cons yourself...form factor and dedicated end and call buttons are something you just get used to after a while, so its not a big deal.

i switched from my droid to an eris a couple days ago, the only thing i really miss in actual usability is the screen resolution/size.

sure the processor isn't as fast, but with the lack of any real android apps that can take advantage of that processor, i'm really not missing it. (and for me, saving 2 seconds in opening an app isn't really anything)

since i had my droid, i think i've used the keyboard maybe 3 times, i really like sense, the lightness of the eris, the better hand-feel (rounded edges feel better in my hand vs hard corners) and i really love the soft touch coating on all sides of the eris, i loved it on the back of my droid and wished they had covered the shiny bezel around the screen with it too.

for me, while the droid is a better phone specs wise, i feel like the eris is a better experience.

it'll tide me over until the fall when i'll probably switch again at least. plus the tidy profit i made off the droid's sale didn't hurt either ;)

the 2.1 release is going to bring about huge improvements in speed. The SenseUI is completely revamped to support 2.1. The hard keyboard on my Mogul was nice, I upgraded to the Diamond and never thought twice about physical keyboard so the switch to the Eris was cake.
