Who here is keeping their Gear S2?

Mine went back today.. I really wanted to like it and keep it. It is a great watch. Just not for me.

1. S Voice is just too bad to overlook. I use Google Voice all the time to say "text my wife" or "remind me". S Voice does not handle either request well.
2. No notification indication. I had to keep checking for notifications and it does not handle multiple notifications well.
3. Some key apps just don't work with Tizen but they work with AW.

Good luck to everyone staying with it.

I'll be dropping mine off this afternoon, most likely. I have a black Huawei being delivered this afternoon I think will do what I thought I was getting with the S2.
For those of you who have returned it, did you bother to wipe your data on the watch? How did you accomplish this?

Yes did a factory reset

Keeping mine. Does everything I need and more. Plus the ui is an upgrade on AW. To me it's more intuitive and more polished. For those having issues with not knowing about notifications there are options on some watch faces letting you know that u have unread alerts.

I definitely agree with your comments. I exchanged my S2 for a 360 V2 and it lags really bad. I have never seen a smartwatch as smooth and responsive as the S2. This 360 is going back. I am regretting returning the S2

Hopefully in another year they have things more smoothed out on these. I like last years S watch and the bigger scree as my dad has the tmobile version but the touch screen just isn't very responsive on it. On the s2 the touch screen is far more responsive than his. However overall this watch does less. The moto like I said has a lot of lag and found it more of a burden to operate than the s2. If you're returning the s2 I would wait a year or so and see what improvements are made to these watches or if they're even in style still.

Mine has gone back. I want voice call/data connectivity (independent of my phone), and will wait for TMobile to release their 3g version.

I don't have one yet so I can't say whether I'm keeping it or not but hopefully some owners can help me decide if it's for me...

My primary question has to do with text notifications. is there a way to select which text notifications I get? I want to sync with my work phone and I don't want all text messages to alert me but there are a few senders I would like to flag and get alerts from. I use Textra on my galaxy S6 and can customize the alerts just wondering if those will still apply or if the S2 is capable of managing that on its own. (If not, does any smartwatch offer that level of customization?)

Next, I've read that s-voice doesn't work as expected for some. I'm not a heavy user of it on my phone but it would be handy at times to use it to create a reminder for myself. I've read one review which says it doesn't do reminders at all.. Is that true?

You cannot do reminders. I big issue for me.
You cannot select which messages to get

The new review on the 360 here on the site seems to indicate it runs really smooth. But comments in this thread indicate the 360 is a bit janky in performance.

I grabbed a S2 Saturday, so a few days on the wrist. I don't run always on, it turns on easy enough (if not too easy at times).

It is ok for notifications. Sometimes the vibrate I just miss when busy. Just today it lost connection with my phone, which is about 2 ft away on the desk. I like the sHeath app. I can't comment on anything better, as this is my first smart watch, but even if it isn't super accurate, it keeps me motivated to move.

My pain point is that I did the Windows OS thing, and feel that Tizen is just another brother to that. In that regard, app support, OS updates, and lack of community contributions to the platform. Now if the S2 sells like crazy, then maybe the developers will come and Samsung will put more money into improving the device.

It seems more likely that an AW device is going to see more updates, more support, more apps, and overall more use.

I'm on the edge of keeping it or trying the 360 v2. 15 day return policy. But then, maybe I should return this weekend try the other one. I can always return back. Let some people get a discount device repackaged :)

Please keep the comparison comments coming in. Totally great to hear. Some things that I am wondering about is the responsiveness of the AW watches. Features you can't live without on one or another. Fitness app comparison. Helper app comparison. And so on.

Who's going off the reservation for the new MS band? It has sensors going for it. I think it can sense desperation... or maybe that's just the normal state of the wearer hoping their purchase will get the support it needs :)

I returned mines today, I was going to to exchanging it for the new moto watch but while I was waiting in line I was looking at the Moto watch and for some reason I didn't like the way it looked,so I just returned the gear s2 .

I have been using mine for about a week now. So far, I am pretty happy with the switch.

The one thing that I miss having is my loyalty cards on my wrist. I thought that the FidMe app was going to be ready at launch, but that's not the case. As a stop gap, I was considering using images of the bar code from Android Pay. However, I am not sure what resolution I should be using to get them to display optimally? The device has a 360x360 resolution, but how that translates to a round display is a little confusing to me.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions with this?

Ok, I am changing my vote from keeping to returning. Step count is way off. Wearing it today with my Gear Fit and I am at 2451 Gear Fit and 1950 Gear S2. Software update??????

Didn't quite return the S2 but when I went to buy it I opted for the new 360 (42mm) instead. The lack of Google Apps was the deal breaker. And WatchMaker, which is a killer app. So far after only about a day I can say I've not seen any lag at all. I'm still learning how to use the watch though. I'm a heavy Twitter user, so I'm curious how the battery will hold up getting 100's of SMS messages a day.

Great thread; very informative to read all the thoughts and reactions of buyers. I had one in my hand last week and was about to reach for my wallet, and stopped. Instead I made an agreement with my self to wait a week and see what the fallout is.Glad I did, as all my reservations have been posted here, and now I know I did the right thing. $300 for a good looking, slick operating device is just a bit too much to pay for what it doesn't do. If were getting notifications all day and needed, say, half the things it can do, I might have gotten one. As it is, I am OK without it. Hope to see Samsung and devs get to work on a bevy of apps for Tizen; I suspect the next iteration of this watch will be the one.

I really want to LOVE this watch. I do LOVE the way it looks and fits (I have super small wrist so I can't wear most smart watches without looking like I have a tablet on my wrist) and getting text. BUT the lack of available apps and the poor fitness tracking is a bummer for me. I had the Gear Fit and the Neo 2. On the Neo 2 I was using a fitness app called Endomondo. It was great. On my phone I could select from a long list of activities, then on my watch all I had to do was press start and stop. It would track length of time, calories burnt and heart rate. It would then sync with My Fitness Pal app. WELL they said they will NOT be updating their app for the S2! I tried the S Health app but on the watch it has mainly cardio activities. I'm recovering from a broke hip so I can't run...I'd rather replace that option with rowing and I'd also like to track weight lifting. I also found it a bit annoying when I am working out to have to keep rotating the bezel to get to the music player to change my song or to the s health to start/stop my exercise. On my Neo 2 it was available until I pressed the "home button". I even put this concerns on the Samsung FB page...of course they didn't respond. Does anyone have any solutions to these fitness concerns? Thanks in advance!

Well I can say I don't regret returning it when I did. I wanted to give it a shot and see if I liked it enough for the money but it didn't do enough for me. I'm going to do like others and keep an eye on the forums to see if they update it and increase the functionality. Some people are hoping that they do but I just can't. When I purchased my Zenwatch I knew it was a first gen product but I knew Google would update it so I felt a little more confident. However in my opinion the Gear S2 isn't a first gen product as Samsung has been making wearables with Tizen longer than AW has even been around. Also many people who have the previous versions are stating how the S2 has reduced functionality than previous versions. I really hope Samsung stays with this and gets the app support for this product since it would be nice to have an alternative to AW but I just can't spend $300+ on hope.

So would you folks who returned the S2 recommend say the Gear 2 Neo over the S2 at $100 cheaper?

I returned the S2 and now have a 360 v2.

The 360 feels like a much better build device. The Samsung interface is probably a bit better than Android wear. The apps aren't nearly as filled out for the S2 and I expect that gap to widen. Take a look at how well Blackberry, Microsoft, and others have done with a smaller/weaker app-store.

I'll report in on the switch. The ring is great (if no super well built) but the Moto feels more classy.

I just got my 360 v2 also today coming from the gear s2,i think the moto looks nice, but I have experienced lag with it, and the s2 was really snappy I'm going to give it a week if it continues I'll just return it and give up on smart watches for now lol

Lol, reminds me of myself. I got the 360 V2 after returning the S2 and returned it in 2 days because the lag was frustrating and decided to give up on smart watches and wait for the second urbane
