Who Is Going To Try PdaNet On The Bionic?

Actually, when gingerbread went live verizon started putting a block up asking you to buy their tethering package. They didn't ask for any restitution so I think its safe to say they aren't too concerned about it. I also notice that the new Bionic dock has usb ports for a keyboard/mouse and it has a mirror mode......isn't that same as tethering?

Could be, and if they are like AT&T with the lapdock they will want to charge a tethering fee.

Yeh, I know its a matter of time before they figure out how to block it. I will try it first thing though and report.

I know AT&T is getting nasty about it and if Verizon were smart they would back off and watch the consumers migrate over.

Also, if Verizon were really smart they wouldn't have a tether add-on for their tiered plans. They would say 'use it however you want' and watch the Gbs of data rack up.

Well the last time I checked, that's what they were doing.

Not exactly. To tether they are requiring an additional $20 for 2 more Gb of data.

......unless you are grandfathered and have the unlimited data plan on your phone currently, you should see the $30 unlimited hotspot Feature/option in your Verizon Wireless online Account. :)

Verizon CS will tell you that this is considered promo and the unlimited Hotspot Feature (for Grandfathered Unlimited Data users) can be pulled at anytime without notice.

Ahh, haven't tried it but shortcut is there. Assumed I would.run into roadblock or have it show up on bill or screw my plan up.

Exactly.

I think the Bionic is actually set up this way. I hooked it up to my laptop to see if the native USB tethering would work on my 2GB data plan. It seemed to work. I visited several websites and ran a speed test.

I love PDANet and haven't experienced an issue. I had it on my X but I haven't loaded it on my Bionic though, I will tonight when I get home.

PDANet is fine, but it won't work for an iPad, which is why I loved teh Wireless Tether I had on my Incredible. I do miss that functionality, but I'm hoping to get it back.

I don't think we are going to have persistent solution until we can unlock the bootloader for an alternate ROM.
