Who is potentially upgrading to the S25 Ultra?

Not for me. If and when I decide to move on from my S20 I will be looking for a phone that still has an SD card slot. The premium for the higher capacity inbuit storage models are extortionate.

(currently using over 200GB of 128GB+256GB and relying on cloud storage and a solid mobile data connection is not an option when on the move around my local area)

I prefer the look of my S24 ultra. There is nothing in what I have seen in the S25 ultra that excites me or makes me want to give up my unlocked Blue S24ultra

I am staying with my S24U, definitely. I like the S25U just as much as my S24U, so a change would not be worth the money. The improvements were to be expected: as usual a slightly 'faster' SoC - something I do not need. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is capable of handling AI functions already. A minor improvement of the camera ... well. As for rhe software improvements I expect we will get those for the S24U anyway. I see this positive, by the way: The phones are getting better, but mire and more with a focus on software as a service.

Yes, I love this phone and have had it for 5 years. I will miss the SD card but I opted for the 1TB version. I hope it lives up to all the hype and expert reviews.

I was THIS close. In the cart. With trade-in, the total price was $900 or so, including a case and tax for a 512gb.

I may yet succumb. But honestly, I'm just not feeling it. It's a lot of effort, the money sometimes the least of it, for something that doesn't change my life or experience much at all. Don't want to. May yet succumb. Don't want to.

I will never buy it for $900. Mine S25U total cost after trade-in, promotion, cashback, workplace discount and Galaxy Watch sale I got with preorder deal, was $170. With all craziness that is going on, I don't think such deals will be possible next year.

I think you are right. Of course, a deal as good as yours wasn't available (at least to me) this year either. I could live with what they quoted just now. Remember, that included (a) case (b) tax. The actual price was something like $840 (512gb, Ultra)

There's no real trade-in for the Note20, so I'm looking at about $1,700 for the 1TB S25.

I'm not sure about backing up part but perhaps Samsung Switch will transfer the data on your SD card to the internal memory of your new Ultra?

I'm sure there's better deals out there but I have used Google for storage for my needs, but I'm not using even half of what you are using. That's a helluva lot of data to require for your phone.

I've been wearing hearing aids since '18. They are both a blessing and a curse. One of the challenges is the number of variables around Bluetooth pairing. (companion app, phone make, hearing aids brand, audiologist familiarity with the aids/your device/trouble shooting) good luck

That should work. When I upgraded from my prior S20 FE with an SD card to my current S24+, Smart Switch copied over the entire SD card contents into a separate folder on the new phone's internal memory called "SDCardBackup".

Personally I don't trust SD cards in the phone while formatting or copying.
I'd take the SD card out and copy manually but if you don't have any other means it can't hurt I guess.

Well, Smart Switch got to within 12 minutes of finishing copying the SD card and everything froze.
So I wound up letting the Samsung guy at Best Buy (I got them to match Samsung's price) Smart Switch the internal data and then I transferred the SD card stuff myself at home.

I've read on a HA forum that some phone/Bluetooth/app combinations give you additional menu options for tweaking g the hearing aids. I unfortunately don't have those on my setup. But I understand OS16 is supposed to add those features for everyone...?
