Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d?

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

i walked into a store tonight, and really got to play with the evo 3d. I was given a $50.00 loyalty credit if I decided to resign with sprint.... AND they would take my EVO 4g back and give me $150.00. Basically... the evo 3d for free. I've always stayed current with mobile technology and for the first time in my life... I feel no desire to upgrade to the the next big thing... (I've played that trick with RIM for 10 years). I've decided even tho it's free.... I'd rather save the upgrade for whatever comes next... and buy a Toshiba Thrive in the meantime.

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

I just got my evo 4g in dec. now seeing they are making a 3d one im kinda depressed. but at the same time the 3d doesn't really interest me. The new sense 3.0 w/ the new colored lock screens w/ the weather widget, and the slight better camera/processor does however. seeing the 3d only shoots 3d content in 720p made me more even depressed about it. well htc im going to sit and wait for the next 3d phone that shoots 3d content in 1080p sorry I want the best

The lockscreen and animations ARE pretty cool...I have it on my Flyer and would run Sense again (for a while anyhow) if my Evo could run it. I'm sure it will get boring though, and then I'd be searching for a new home launcher again. I'm sticking with the OG Evo until a Sensation-like device is released...(DISCLAIMER TO THE MASSES: Yes, I frickin' KNOW the Sensation is like the 3D minus the 3D part...That's what I want. I frickin HATE the 3D on the 3D, and yes, I know I can turn it off. I don't want the 3D period)

EVO vs. Dell Streak

size comparisons start at 6:30

YouTube - ‪Dell Streak Unboxing: Phone/Tablet Hybrid‬‏

i'm starting to think that 4.5"-4.7" display might be the maximum in terms of pocketability. unless Ice Cream Sammmmmich allows removal of capactive buttons and all that bezel - maybe we can stretch it to 5". unlike a tablet we shouldn't need much bezel on a phone to hold it in hand. but i need to be able to keep the phone comfortably in my front pants/jeans pocket and in my side suit jacket pocket. and have room for a slim silicone case too.

Got to admit I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way. I do not think the evo 3d is really worth it. Just the lack of a kickstand really changed my mind on getting the phone. So I went out and got myself a motorola xoom and happy with that. To me a rooted OG Evo has all I need and no need to waste an upgrade

A lot of us feel the same way. (Just don't mention it to any Evo3D owners as they are a rather touchy bunch of people....watch)

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

Although I am on my 3rd EVO, I'm sticking with it for the time being. Upgrade isn't until next June. Maybe, just maybe Sprints LTE plans will be a bit clearer?

I decided to skip the 3vo even though I had originally planned on getting the 4g successor. I've played with it and it was nice, but not compelling. I'm waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S2 aka Samsung Within.

No the definition of takeaway would be completely gone. Users paying the lowest plan should not get that luxury. That's my opinion personally, they are losing money giving it to everyone. Verizon, At&t and T-Mobile all do not offer a 2yr upgrade price for certain plans at 1yr. Only Sprint has this luxury..

Hate to tell you that's still taking it away. They gave it and now they are taking it away. I pay $220 on my plan and I'm not eligible.

Just because other companies don't offer a service doesn't mean Sprint isn't doing a disservice to their customers.

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

Upgraded at radioshack first day of release with a 150.00 instant rebate when I forked over my mint evo,,,I ended up returning the evo because my eyes felt like they where gonna explode with that sceen,,totally disliked the 3d,and to me that rendered the 2nd. Camera useless to me as is never use it.I was issued a new evo when I returned the 3d and I'm more than happy now,,except for this last maintence update my only regret is not leaving the original software alone.

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

I am on the fence of upgrading to the 3d. My EVO 4G is still a capable device. I have tested out the 3d and I have to say it is really fast!!! Faster than the g2x from my experience. But I felt that the EVO 3d did not amaze me like how the original did.

Re: Evo 3d is a must have.

I just want to start out by saying that all the people that are staying with their 4g evo will lose the battle when it comes to the 3d phone. From a visual standpoint the way the screen looks on 3d is way more captivating followed up with a new android build called gingerbread just to handle all these new sensory details found on this new phone. And for all those people with the new 4g talking trash about the 3d with 4g phone maybe its because you already feel binded to that wonderful 2 year contract on your now outdated evo 4g phone. Oh and the battery comin out with the 3d kicks ass and has already been proven. Got my 3d phone on reserve. Dont hate. cause oh u will. Paul Wall- still owns an hd2.

so if we say we don't want one, we're hating on the 3d? remember that logic when the next great phone comes out...in about 3 months.

It is not hating on the EVO 3D, I would say it is more of a preference that people are not thrilled or do not care about the 3D aspect of this device. For the most part, the specs and performance of the device will sell the phone alone. Most consumers do not really care for 3D as oppose to having a dual core processor, front facing camera, etc.

Although going 3D is a huge step, I feel that this technology (stereoscopic) in a mobile device is in its infancy. The 3D for the most parts like the 3DS and active shutter speed 3D seem more like layers; reminds me of the old view master toys. Maybe if Sprint didn't push this feature as they did then people wouldn't make a big deal of it. But how can you blame them to pushing out the latest technology? Overall, the EVO 3D is a great device, but like I said before, it didn't blow me away as much as when the original EVO. I may or may not upgrade to the 3D (i am a gold member). I would like to see how my EVO holds up or see when the photon or HP pre3 comes out

It's not a bad phone, I agree. I don't want it though, mostly because of the 3D. Whenever I say that I get the "you know you can turn it off...." Like I'm stupid. Yes I know, and I also know I don't have to buy it. I had one for 2 weeks to play with and i didn't like it. Icons and text are tiny, gets too hot, 3d isn't very good, and the signals aren't as good as my EVO4g.

Then the next batch come through saying we are jealous or some other assinine comment just because they bought one. I don't care what phone anyone has other than the one I have, or am buying, and then its only for shared knowledge. It's just a phone.

I was looking at the phone the other day at best buy and I just do not like this 3D gimmick stuff. It loins weird, its not clear to me. I looked at the 3ds and the evo 3d. To each their own but I'm not into this 3d gimmick.

I did see a Sammy tv that gave depth to the picture. That I like. No weird picture, no glasses just nice depth.

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

I was ready to jump ship to the 3D today when my EVO 4G's USB charging port starting crapping out. I've played with the 3D in the store and am a tad smitten by it, mainly by Sense 3.0. If the repair staff at the Sprint store told me my Evo 4G would require an insurance replacement (e.g. $100) I was going to upgrade to the 3D. But they didn't, they've ordered me a free replacement 4G, which arrives in "3-5 business days." So I will be remaining a faithful 4G owner. Which is fine by me, I'm still lovin' my 4G. I was fortunate, my one year warranty expires on the 13th. ;) P.S. I wonder if the reason the store had to order my replacement is because of the 4G's price drop to $100 and customers are snapping them up at the new lower price...

Just got the 3D and will more than likely pass my EVO on to the wife. She could care less as long as it rings and connects to Facebook!

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

My thoughts on this since I upgraded and still have 2 Evo 4G's in hand to compare

I wasnt sold on the performance gains at first. I havent run any real process intensive apps yet, but after playing with the 3D a few days and messing with my GF's 4G last night I can tell you I quickly realized how smooth the 3D is side by side.
The 3D is just that much smoother. . . And this is compared to a stock 4G and a Rommed one that is custom kernaled, ect that cruises much faster than a stocker.

3d portion I was weary about until I played with it. I dont tinker with that part too much, but it really is cool.

Sense 3.0 I been running off and on for months now. Its not new to me , so that part is kinda wore off. If you never used sense 3.0, then it will amaze you.

Battery life is incredible compared to the 4G. I still get better battery life than my custom kernaled roms that were optimized for battery life.

If you have an upgrade avail and a 4g its worth the upgrade.
If you dont have an upgrade avail and have a 4G, I would deff think harder about it before dropping the cash on it.

Once this thing is Rommed and kernaled though like the 4G, I am sure it will blow peoples minds. I dont even understand why you would need something faster, but we shall see.

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

Evo 3d seems like a solid phone, but I will keeping my 4g. The Sprint Premier rebate changes made the decision for me.

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

The EVO is great and I still use it with groove ip as a backup but the speed of the 3D is very impressive. what really pushed me to move on from the 4G was the limited app space! I got tired of reshuffling stuff and going without widgets just because I could keep the app on my internal storage
