Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d?

Re: Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d

Just bought an Evo 4g on Amazon for a penny. Getting rid of my TMO TP2 and joining the Android fray. :D Looking forward to it. Also, looking forward to not having to deal with WM6 quirks any longer....

Anyone know if I am eligible for the 2.3 upgrade even if I purchased the phone from a reseller?

The upgrade should be fine as it is a supported Sprint phone. Now if you are the more adventurous type. You can root your phone and get a Custom Rom like CM7 or Synergy. CM7 gives ASOP android, Synergy is GingerBread with lots of Sense 3 elements. There are many others but its up to you.

Been with the Evo for a year since i dumped my Pre-. The phone has been rock soild. The 3D is nice just not what I want right now. That and the F...UP Sprint did to us with yearly upgrades doesn't have me sweating yet.

If your phone ships with 2.2 then yeah you can update to 2.3. Doesn't matter who you buy it from.
If you are wanting to root then don't do the update as there isn't a method for 2.3.
Cheers! Thanks for the help.

Hope to get there eventually. I experimented with a few different Roms on my TP2 and was running Android briefly. It was too buggy and patchwork on the TP2 though and reverted back to WM. Looking forward to using a phone that was meant to run Android.

I'm sure the 3D drains battery life like no other.

I'll sick with my OG EVO :)

I'm still waiting for a perma root for 3d
I'm eligible for an upgrade in October. But until the boot loader is unlocked, I won't touch the 3D.

I'm Sticking with the OG Evo. Other then the new 3D camera, there's nothing in the new Evo that would make me give up the tweeks and customizations I already have in the original. It took a lot of work to get my phone to running just the way i like it, rooting and all, just to have to start over.

I must admit, I have seen a lot of 3D's out there and they look real nice. It does get a little tempting....
