Who is sticking with their Evo instead of upgrading to Evo 3d?

I was thinking about getting the EVO 3D, but I don't know. I had the Nexus S for a little bit but I didn't like the build quality of the phone. It was nice to have vanilla Android, but I missed the Sense UI. It would depend what the 3D looks like. If it really isn't that impressive, then I may pass. I was also curious to see what the dual core processor would do for the performance of the phone. Honestly, I don't think that I'm going to need or want to get the EVO 3D. But we will see.

I am heavily pondering getting the 3D. i dont care for the 3D at all, but the other specs are nice and kinda like the dedicated camera button even though I think it will stick out like a sore thumb. Battery will likely suck alot worse due to the proc.
No kickstand kinda sucks too.
I may wait to see what glitches occur. My Evo gets new roms constantly and works like a champ so its hard to give up

Also on the camera. . . I cant believe the people *****ing about 5MP. Who really prints their pictures taken with the Evo currently?
You arent going to notice any difference until you go printing pictures and start blowing them up.
I use my camera ALOT. **** I probably have about 6000 pictures on my Evo now and I can tell you even these will look pixelated when blown up enough, but I dont care because I dont print them in 8x10 or at all even.
I think its a moot point that everyone is freaking out about.

What rom have you run that has been best for the stock battery for the EVO? How much time were you able to get out of it?

rockin an EVO and a wifi xoom

I am running CM 7.0.3.1 right now. On a full charge with moderate use in semi low signal areas I will get about 20-24 of use.

Sticking with original EVO for the time being. 3D looks great, but I want to see what the Nexus 3 ends up being before jumping at the first shiny new object.

Sticking with the EVO for at least another year. AS long as it does what i want and does it well I dont just upgrade for the newest thing. Sure the new phones do it better and maybe faster but I save my upgrades for when my phone "Cant" do what I want otherwise I stick with a phone for 2 years. So far I have never had a phone as good as the EVO. If there was a phone that got twice as much battery life and does the same things I would get it. Dont see that phone yet.

Sticking with my EVO for at least another year as well. I am happy with my ROM and how the phone suits my needs at this current time. Never been a fan of 3D.

Lol at said link. Work in a photo lab and have a 6 Mega pixel picture printed at even a 11x14 and it will be digitized. I will show proof if needed.

I wouldn't waste the ink printing a photo from my phone camera, even if it were a 14Mp camera. that said, a 5Mp camera is PLENTY for a phone camera since it's usually dumb shots and videos that make their way to facebook. I hardly use mine at all, and it's usually a picture taken of a coworker doing something (picking nose, etc) that winds up on our Intranet. Yes, I'm ****ed up like that.

They should give the original EVO a refresh, the same spec boost (other than 3D) and sell the models side by side.

the 1.2ghz is a nice touch, but the downgrade of the camera's just for 3D effect... kinda not worth it to change.

again, just a spec boos to the original, and have the option to get the one in 3D or the regular w/ 8mp camera :-)

Since the EVO 3D has a locked bootloader, I'll just stick with my baby. :-) I know HTC just announced that will no longer lock them, but idk if that would include the 3D. And like has be mentioned before we just Netflix, so I really don't see a reason to swtich unless you really just want the newest thing. All the development that has been done for the EVO should keep anyone happy with it until it breaks or the motherboard fries. I thought about getting a NS4G but with all the stuff Sprint and Google have done together lately, I'd be willing to bet that Sprint will get the next Nexus device...and that my friends will be what I'm upgrading to. ;-)

Got my EVO 4G last December. The $75 discount on December first won't bring the price on the web with other discounts, below $400. I'm not paying $400 for a phone, so I won't be upgrading before my contract is up and by then, whatever the successor is to the EVO 3D, will be out. I can wait, since Gingerbread is coming on Friday for the EVO. That's more than good enough for me. The Phone does everything I need it to do right now. No need for an upgrade. I don't ever need the latest tech because my needs are specific and always met with my current tech. No EVO 3D upgrade for me.

I don't have an upgrade till October and I'm holding out for the next Nexus. Going to be tempting to pick one up come upgrade time.

Hey everyone I love my Htc Evo, and am curious about the Evo 3d...I had to upgrade my girlfriend's phone so I can't upgrade to the 3d now. I was just curious as to how many people are just going to stick with the original Evo and are happy with it.

Looks impressive... better processor and looks like a much nicer screen... But honestly the 3D is a non-issue/starter at all. I am not even highly impressed with the string of over priced 3D movies coming out in the theater these days. It's cool but most of them are just as good Non-3D or Non-3D on Blu-Ray when they hit stores.. Nice that you don't need glasses (I can't see sitting around with 3D glasses at my house to watch a movie or TV show)

I think I am going to stick with my Rooted CM7 EVO for the time being.... I am sure as the year winds down and we get closer to the holidays your going to see some impressive new phones on the market and I am not yet ready to waste my early upgrade on the EVO 3D (or the Nexus S for that matter)

I'm with a lot of you - I have the urge to upgrade to the latest and greatest, but I really like my EVO. I don't think I've ever been as fond of a device as a I have the EVO.

I even thought about buying a second phone to keep around, but it really comes down to the fact my EVO does everything I want and it keeps my attention.

I usually feel the urge to get something new after 6 months or so, but hasn't happened yet with this one. Well done HTC.

You took the word right outta my mouth. Now that HTC has promised to keep their bootloaders unlocked and opened up Sense to devs, I don't ever see myself buying from another manufacturer other than them. :-)

At first, I was content with keeping my EVO with CM7 on it. It is amazing how installing custom ROMs can greatly extend the life of a phone. I also was not even all that impressed with the EVO3D at first..

But recently, my addiction and itch for the latest and greatest took over. I was not that impressed with the idea of 3D, so I went to best buy to play with the Nintendo 3Ds. I wasn't blown away. It was still kinda cool, but I can see how it could be annoying or weird to some people. But thank HTC/Sprint for the option of having a switch conveniently placed on the phone.

Like most people, I am not going to get the EVO3D for its 3D feature, but for the other specs. Sense 3.0, the processor, upgrade in internal memory and RAM, better screen than the EVO 4G, hdmi through the usb and DLNA, The 3D will be cool for a short while to play with and brag and show off I am sure lol

But up until last night I was on the fence..I then decided to list my EVO online..Needless to say I was kind of sad. I have had that bad boy since launch last year. I would love to keep it as a backup..but unfortunately I am too broke to do that. Plus I am sure I am going to miss it when the EVO 3D is going through it's issues with bugs and what not..
