Who is upgrading to S24 Ultra?

If trade in is $1,000 I'm doing it, $900 I will have to think about if for a few days and I am leaning to the no side of that also. I just don't need it and the upgrade is minimal. The AI gives me no interest.
Well the trade in was decent together with free gifts.....
512 GB Titanium Grey (512 for price of256)
Free watch 6, 40mm with sport band.
£50 off price
Free screen protector 2 pack
Free leather case
£600 trade in
Total to pay =£411.65

Did I go for it? Hell yeah Im too weak to refuse!

Yeah it was an offer I think we received when we registered interest in the S24U a week or so ago, but only received the codes after launch.

I'm pretty bummed over the whole deal, as I don't think upgrading my 4 mo. old S23+ is an option w/ Xfinity Mobile, with the probability probably darker'n a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night! So I don't want to see or read anything anymore about S24's ! 🫣🤫🤐🥱

Especially after seeing this:

Galaxy S24+ :
• 2600 peak nits
• 1440 x 3088 pixels w/ ~509 ppi
• 12 GB RAM !
& a ...
• 4900 mAh battery

...compared to my...again, 4 mo. old S23+ with:
• 1700 peak nits
• 1080 x 2340 pixels w/ ~393 ppi
• 8 GB RAM !
& a ...
• 4700 mAh battery

😕 I guess thems the breaks when you upgrade in the Fall ! 😕 4 months on, and it's already startin' to feel like I have an old phone. 🙄

Don't wanna be a downer, so I reckon I oughta mosey on outta this here thread; sashey on out the door; exit stage left... like when The Dude abides! 😁
And I hope all you folks enjoy yourselves with your hottie-tottie new fangled S24's! 🙄😏😄
Catch ya later a little further on down the trail. 😉

I guess I am because I just placed my order but there's always a order cancel option. :p But I'm keeping my S23U and trading in my S22U since I plan on always keeping the previous year phone (or my most recent phone) as a backup. I ate a larger bill last year and used my S7 as a trade in just to offload it and be able to keep a more recent phone as a backup.

S24Ultra 512GB
S22Ultra Trade In
Buds2 Pro
Leather case with protector
$711.05 out the door tax included (Would of been $100 less with the S23Ultra as trade)

If it wasn't for the fact that I'm still on the Buds1 and the price of the Buds2 with discount ($0) I would of been much more inclined to skip the S24 since my accessories stock pile is stacking up and I have accessories from last year that I haven't even opened yet like the Wireless Duo lol.

I feel you. I regretted my S22+ purchase almost immediately. I'll never go with the plus again. It was such a disappointing device. I traded it in on the Pixel 7 pro then traded that in for the S23 ultra. It's a night and day difference.

Anytime a manufacturer sells a cheaper and a pro/ultra version, I'm always going to go with the premium one. They look very similar on paper but often perform much differently.

I have pre ordered every S series since the s3. Sadly TMobile requires me to put down $500 down payment for the S24 Ultra when I have never put money down before. We are on their original jump 1.0 and use it every year for our upgrades.

Samsung is offering $600 for my Note 20. I think I will use that for my trade in instead of my S23 Ultra.
Yea better to keep a more recent device as a backup and unload the older one while it still has value. That's what I'm doing.

That's really a great value for the Note 20. I always liked my Note20U better than my s22U, so I traded in the s22U & kept the Note20U for the backup. Not the wisest financially speaking, but my s22U had signal issues.

Verizon is giving me $800 for my Note 2 that is in a drawer in my office and I don't have to add a new line.
It would have been $1,000 if I were on a more expensive plan.
Downside is I think I owe them any kids I have for the next 3 years (locked in for 36 months to get full trade value).
Reality is I don't upgrade often. I'm currently on the Note 10+ and get to keep it as backup.
Be sure to check your carrier for trades. Most are giving crazy values for most any phone in almost any condition.

could not possibly agree more. I'm tempted by something new, but it's always hard for me to buy something that I simply don't need....unless there's a ridiculous deal involved.
I think the thing that has changed my outlook on smartphone addiction, at least always buying a new device or upgrading every year is when you meet someone irl who has the itch to upgrade phones more than you. It makes it look ridiculous. I don't judge this guy, he can spend his money however he wants. But it made me realize my problem or how I could change my outlook on it.

I don't want to be constantly adding on more devices and debt into my life to distract me away from spending actual quality time with people. I definitely connect with my friends through the phone and sharing videos with them. But I'd rather my phone be a tool. I still love smartphones and tech and podcasts devoted to tech. But only for the purposes of learning how to get the most out of my device.

It seems I go through this cycle every year where I realize my addiction to smartphone tech but then somewhere along the line, I regress a little bit. But this time it feels different. I'm very satisfied with my S23 ultra. If there were bugs or slowdowns, I'd feel differently.

Also, when the Pixel 8 pro came out, I felt the same after my poor experience with the Pixel 7 pro. I just didn't care about it or believe the hype and ads surrounding it.

I'm happy for everyone who is upgrading to the latest phones. I don't judge anyone for wanting a new phone every year. If that's what you're into and what makes you happy, go for it.

Thanks for your commiseration. 😉
Although, I'm actually very happy with my S23+, and actually very glad I chose it over the S23 Ultra.

My wife upgraded to the S23U at the same time I upgraded to the S23+, last Sept, (Xfinity gave her $600 for her 6 yr old Note 8!), and I haven't regretted my choice of going with the S23+ for a second.

Honestly, the specs for the S23+ & S23U were the same in all the specs that really mattered to me, except for the resolution [1440 x 3088 ~500ppi vs. 1080 x 2340 ~393ppi], and memory [12GB vs. 8GB], and of course the camera 🤔, and, oh 🤔, well, the battery too. Well, okay, now that I swype it out, those are quite a few differences! 🤔 😄 😐

However, none of which were deal breakers for me, as the S23+ is good enough; the periscope telephoto notwithstanding, as I sure would like to have that periscope telephoto lens 🤔.... and, well, the greater battery.... and, okay, the resolution & ppi & memory too! 😄 😳

But otherwise, the same display, same processor/chipset/CPU/GPU, same Comm, same platform, same features (except for the SPen), same sound, same misc &c, with the S23+ actually having better overall performance bench scores (e.g. GeekBench & GFCBench). Although a lower 'Endurance' rating due to the smaller battery.

And I greatly prefer the smaller size of the S23+.

Anyhoo, so I'm really a very happy camper! 😉
. . . Except for those four main differences. 😏
. . . (kinda reminds of that SNL Steve Martin Christmas skit, where he keeps adding wishes)! 🙂
