I am really thinking about selling my Nexus 4 and getting the S4 on June 26. Anyone else thinking of doing that? One reason I think I heard Lifeproof is going to be making a case for that phone. There are almost no good name brand cases for this phone. Its still a good phone. Just wanted anyone elses' opinion on it.

Thanks,

Not me. No reason to, the Nexus does everything I want for my Android phone. I don't see any huge advantages to the GS4 (I used to own a GS3, and wasn't happy with it) and I certainly don't see the extra value.

If I had an extra $700+ after taxes to burn, I might get it and keep my Nexus 4. No way it would replace my Nexus.

The official Nexus 4 case is awesome btw.

No way. The S4 GE isn't that much better than the N4, and it's twice the price. Don't know how much you've been looking around, but there are lots of quality cases for the N4.

If Google subsidized the cost, if it didn't have an AMOLED display, and definitely if it didn't have a physical button... No, probably not even then.

I just genuinely don't like the Galaxy phones. I don't like how they look, I don't like holding them, I don't like using them.

Great product, terrific, just not for me. I also feel as though I need to clarify I don't know if I'd take a vanilla, "Google Edition" One, either.

I genuinely enjoy almost everything about these Nexus 4's, I don't quite know what I'd replace it with.

Since all the TW additions are essentially removed, I was hoping the price would be adjusted accordingly.
If it was 500$, sure but at 650$ nope - I'll just wait for the N5.

I am considering it. I will see over the next few months if I can live with 16 gigs of storage. I am guessing not, but we'll see. If I buy one it probably won't be till at least August.

The S4 does have awesome hardware...but I will miss this curved glass display. I have never liked the hardware buttons on the Galaxy series. And I want to see how quickly the S4 really gets Updates. It is not a real Nexus device, and we all saw how long it even took the Galaxy Nexus to finally get updates.

It's likely I will be upgrading to the S4, but it is not a sure thing yet.

The Official Nexus 4 case are you talking about the bumper case? I would like good case like Lifeproof or otterbox. But I think they both have no plans to make one for the Nexus4. :(

I thought the S4 had a micro card slot, does it not? I may just stay with this phone.

I was talking about the N4. No SD on the N4 and you only have 16 gigs.

I have already had to move pictures and video off it to make room, and it's only been a week. But I might be able to live with it. I will give it a few months. I don't plan on upgrading before August regardless.

Oh, yea I also want more space. That's what might make me get it. But I can just sell my Nexus and my iPhone 4 that I still have. I am waiting on VZ to send the credit I had on my account when I closed it down. That will take awhile.

Yeah, I have noticed that Nexus phones, like iPhones, hold their value very well. You should be able to sell it for close to what it's retail price was when you bought it.

I'll be keeping my N4 as my backup device whenever I get around to buying a newer phone. So far nothing's come out yet that I want

Totally agreeing. For $650 what is the real benefit an S4-Nexus offers me over the current Nexus 4 at $349 ? With a nice ROM, and good kernel the Nexus 4 is really good, and not an outdated old phone whatsoever.

I like the software keys on the true Nexus phones, the S4 will still have captive hardware keys, and the Samsung logo on the front bezel, no thanks. Ok really what does the S4 offer over the N4 ? Little faster hardware, LTE, SD/Card, and removable battery, uh ok. Is that worth 75% higher price than the N4 ? Not to me.

Today most new phones already come with pretty fast hardware, it's all about the OS, and with both the N4 and this new S4 running the latest and same Android OS, I doubt in real world use it will be even noticeable. So no, this new S4 is no worth an additional $300 over the N4, no way.

For $100 less, next month I can buy a brand new white Nexus 4 running Android 4.3, plus a new Nexus 7 tablet, and save a hundred bucks, over just the one S4-Nexus.

...and better display, better camera...those are not trivial things IMO.

I know not everyone cares about that stuff, but it does matter, and I think the additional cost is worth it. You are definitely getting more phone.

(Also...it is not just that the battery is removable, it is upgradable...I am having to charge my Nexus 4 every day now. I used to go 2 days between charges on my Rezound, and my roomate only charges his S3 every other day as well. Extended batteries rock.)
