Who's Getting Fold 5?

Yeah, the flip and the tablets were the only things with any noteworthy upgrades at all. And with the flip, it was only because they had no choice after Motorola released the RAZR

I didn't want to do it but I'm in. Fold 4 screen protector has started to come up a bit and am worried about the screen splitting up the middle. Seen some horror stories with the screen failing. The Fold 5 hinge is supposed to be better with a more durable screen. Will skip the 6 unless it's a significant step forward. The Flip 5 deal is insane. Trading in my wife's Flip 4 for the Flip 5 for under $45.. Don't see how they are making money there.

No, as per usual they have changed the design just enough so that the old cases will not fit.

True, if you had a Fold 4. If you had older or this is your first then its a little more than a minor upgrade. So we got a better hinge, better CPU (which will probably lead to better battery life), brighter inner screen, for the same price. "rumors" are already out for the 6. It will have all these upgrades supposedly. Different aspect ratio, embedded Spen, bigger battery, better cameras. You think the price will stay at 1800 or go down if thats the case, good luck on that? I'm guessing these "rumors" were put out by a competitor to kill what little enthusiasm there is for the 5.

I'm keeping my Fold 4 until next year and decide, the Pixel Fold won me over this year with its size just need it to be little more customized like Samsung and be really happy.

Am seeing very less traction here compared to any previous Folds. That says it all I guess.

Not very much in the Pixel Fold thread either. I'm excited as always just cause I love the technology in general and the more I use them the more I enjoy.

Was really hoping to feed my addiction this year. Looks like I'm keeping my Fold 4. F5 is a bit underwhelming and makes no sense to upgrade..... One Plus Open (Fold) is my only hope. Rumored specs look interesting...Woo!!.....lol!!!!

Yeah from a fold 4 or even fold 3 but if you have a fold 1/2 definitely jump to this if u want latest otherwise save few bucks get the Fold 4


If first Samsung foldable then jump to the 5

Went to my local Best Buy to check out the new devices. Fold 5 feels great in the hand and the icy blue color they had looked really great. Still not a big fan of that narrow front screen.

I was chatting with Samsung rep there and he said till date he only received 2 pre orders. One for the fold 5 and another for flip. I was really surprised that only 2 have preordered in store and it’s in Seattle suburbs where lots of techies are there in the area. Samsung rep was saying he has been given a target of 20 preorders before launch day. Not a good start I would say.

That is surprising... I can kind of understand with the Fold 5 because of the price, but the Flip 5 is very competitively priced I think for what it is... especially with a trade in. It is still a thousand dollar phone though, and times are tight.

Maybe the general public isn't willing to spend that much ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ I think I read recently that Samsung's sales are down in general... possibly because of the economy?

But those great trade in values are with samsung, not retail stores. I would guess more people would order online than in a store.

Yeah the trade in value in store is $200 less than online. For example, S23 Ultra is only $800 in Best buy in store as compared to $1000 online. They have $100 Best buy gift card for preorder.

But even then I did expect they'll have more than 2 to be honest. It's been few days since the devices were announced.

I did the same. Mine original fold would only open to 170 degrees. Asurion replaced it with a refurb for a 100.00, but I'm trading this in for the better hinge, brighter screen, better processor, better storage and so on. I already know what the Fold4's hinge is about. I'd rather risk it with the Fold5.

I got close to same deal with for the icy blue with my military discount. Considering how low they were giving for trade ins when s23 came out I was surprised.

BTW, the old official fold4 cases will fit the Fold5, but not vice versa.

I don't know about you, but I'm not feeling it now with this release. The price isn't my concern, I'm just not feeling it for some reason.
