Who's not pre-ordering? #storepurchase

The day I bought a Note 3 at an AT&T store the employee literally ripped the back off while I watched. He didn't gently remove it, he stuck his fingernail in the groove and vigorously ripped it clean off. That ruined me for in store purchases.

A few months ago I had to get a new sim card for a fairly new iPhone 7+. Same att store. When the employee put the sim tool in the hole to pop the tray out he pressed and twisted it back and forth at the same time like it was some kind of screw. I nearly punched him in the face but thought better of it. Those jackwagons handle your brand new device like it's one of their crappy display models.

I pre-ordered a Orchid Gray S8+ this afternoon.

What carrier? I've been on all of them.. I just tell the rep to let me buy it and go. I say I'll do all the setup on my own and so far they let me buy / leave.

Sprint, my replacement note 7 that I had to get in store they said they were required to open it and activate it. It took the guy 2 hours to figure out the process so in the end he handed me the box and said have a nice day. Then when I got my v20 from the note 7 fiasco at a different store he said the same thing. That too was a long process and he ended up handing me an unopened box. Maybe it's because they realize I know as much or more than they do or maybe they were just trying to get rid of me.

Unboxing a phone is the most uneventful thing... especially one with a sealed back. seriously if you get a thrill from it, you need to move out of the basement or something. I mean aside from the awesome phone I get to see the craptastic charger and maybe crappy earbuds packaged with it. Not even a manual today.

The only thing im gonna request of my target mobile guy is he keep the default protector on so that I can put my own on when I get home.

It's not about all the not so cool stuff in the box it's about being the first person to open your new phone. I like to be the one to deflower my new phones.

My local AT&T store know me quite well and would simply hand me the box , give me my " alone time " by the corner table and allow me to do all the fun unboxing and setting up the brand , spanking new phone all by myself !!!

They're always very readily available if I need them but I'd set up and transfer all my data from my old phone to the new one within the hour or so.

Once done I pack my things and simply walk out with a huge smile on my face

the pre-order gifts don't seem that great. I am not big into phone VR so it isn't a huge draw for me.

I feel the same way. Samsung needs to offer something else because after having owned a Gear VR I don't care to own another one. I could use another sd card but do I really need one?

Plus most stores are required to unbox the phone and activate it for you. I prefer to unbox my phone myself, it's one of my favorite parts of getting a new device.

Frankly they don't need to offer anything? LOL I don't think they will be losing many sales if they had no freebies, but it's a nice gesture so I'll take it.

I absolutely hate purchasing a phone at the store. The transaction takes forever and they always want to walk you through everything. I prefer having a phone delivered and setting everything up myself
