Who's ordering the S25?

Early delivery if you pre-order?
thanks!

unfortunately, as usual, Samsung simply doesn't learn from Apple's marketing playbook for having the product immediately available for sale right after the live/video event!

most apple products are available at their stores the moment the live/video event is finished - when the enthusiasm is at the highest!

sigh.

There's not enough to pull me in to get the S25U this time round. I've had pretty much every flagship from the Note series to the S ultra series at launch and every time it seems to be less and less of an upgrade.
Pretty much this. S23U to S24U was kinda meh and I could say that the zoom camera (10x to 5x optical) was actually a downgrade. I've upgraded every year since the S10 but I think that its time to go back to upgrading every three years again. Not to mention with the cost of living these days the disposable income just isn't there for me anymore, and if it was, I'd be more inclined to upgrade my PC with one of the new RTX GPUs launching around the same time as the S25 since it's been longer since I've upgraded my PC.

Aren't there benefits to getting brand new firmware for superior protection against hacking or other malware?

I always thought in addition to software protection, new firmware and even new hardware that provide specific protection against bad actors are valuable.

Am I merely deluding myself?

I have never tried Rakuten

i know its off topic but what is involved.

Cash back website. Just have to order from the link within their website. Takes time to get the money but its all legit. Dell etc, Bestbuy, Samsung......can end up saving some $$$

Previous year devices still get security updates, so you won't have any issues with the S24 or S23 lines right now. They won't be less secure than the S25 line.

Somehow, I sense this year's reduced comments pre-Unpacked means less enthusiasm for the S25 series, for some reason.

True? Or am I misreading the temperature?

Thanks, I am not clear on do I have to pay via PayPal or do I just use my credit card as i have in the past ?

i wonder why there is such an obvious reduction of pre-Unpacked comments which equals such a reduction of enthusiasm? i don't recall ever seeing so little enthusiasm!

i am still happy about getting a new phone soon!
I think $$ has a lot to do with it. Also, I think a lot of people are loaded up with S23 and S24 series phones, the iterative nature of the update, etc. If money weren't so tight for so many people, perhaps there might be more excitement.

you're right: it is a lot of money for relatively few benefits, features.

the incremental improvements are tiny.

in fact, i don't recall the model, but it might have been the S20 Ultra, the camera wouldn't properly focus on closer items, i.e. 10" distances or 24"! i suffered through it for 1 year. there should have been a class action lawsuit!

Yup, and it was such a shame, because that thing was a beast in all other areas.

But I feel like the camera has been just average on this S24U and I'm really hoping whatever incremental updates they've done and their claims of using AI to enhance quality will actually happen.

So, I can't remember, do preorders become available on the same day as the Unpacked Event?

I'm so freaking impulsive with this sort of thing but I want to see reviews from people like Flossy Carter before committing. I'm getting something like $38 credit every month from ATT from last year's trade. I'm willing to pony up and pay off the S24U early but also think it's best I wait till just before I know for certain that's the direction I want to go.

So sick of how the carriers (ATT, at least) stretch out your trade credit over 3 years. I'm going to just buy through Samsung and pay out the difference all at once, which is another thing ATT won't allow.

Yes. Generally pre-orders go live that day right after the actual announcement. Whether directly from Samsung, or through a carrier.

I got my S24+ last year through AT&T via pre-order. It was the "any year, any condition, for free" with the memory bump promo where I traded in a screen-shattered S20 FE. I don't recall Samsung offering that kind of deal. Could be wrong, though.

I don't mind the 3-year thing because I plan to keep this thing for at least 4 - assuming it doesn't meet the same fate the old phone met - a drop to the ground with an unfortunately placed rock that took the screen out.

I haven't purchased through a carrier since my S8 Active. It's either been direct from Samsung or via Best Buy. I had issues with a carrier and had to turn on a dime and the only way it worked was that I was unlocked.

When you get the unlocked phone from Samsung, you're just installing the SIM from your previous device into your new phone and everything will still work with your carrier?

I'm for sure getting it ASAP. I'm on the S22 ultra and ready for an upgrade. I just wonder if I should shell out for the 1tb, or 512gb.

I take a ton of photos and video of our daughter and concerts. I currently have 25gb free on this 512gb.

Thought about paying for Google drive monthly, but a 1tb device, depending on the final price, may be my best bet.

Plus, if you want to get 16GB RAM, you'll have to choose the larger storage sizes of 512GB - 1TB
