@mustang7757 :

oh come on! you're our fearless leader! you have to empathize with all of us so you must have the S25 Ultra in order to fully empathize!

i tell ya, i'll have one browser window open to Unpacked, another browser window open to samsung.com. the moment pre-orders are open, i'll pre-order. then, there's a fighting chance that my order will get shipped out early on ; )

btw, i think your list of "same features" has one error:

haven't they told us that the S25 Ultra will have Gorilla X? X being the next bigger number from last year's version of Gorilla glass? i think so!

hah! @mustang7757, now you have no choice! :p
Only thing I'll lead you guys is into spending more money

I have explained in my previous post that s24u has everything the s25u has expect the new chip , so

If I do jump this year it's not about a better phone but I like Newest tech .

In all my years of trading my 1-year-old Samsung phones for newer models, I’ve never had a deal where it was “free” or “almost free.” It’s always something like $300 to $600! That’s definitely not free!
In my case, I buy through my carrier, AT&T. They have the "free" trade-in deals. What we do pay for is the tax on the full price, and the first 3 months of what the monthly installment would normally be. Then the "credits" kick in from the trade in making it essentially free from then on until the installment period is done.

So, last year, I pre-ordered the S24+ 512 GB model using a screen shattered S20 FE as the trade in. In my case, I had to pay a little over $100 for the tax, then $35 for the next three months after the phone was delivered. By the fourth month, April, my installment (with trade in accepted) went to $0 and has been that way since.

Since I don't plan to leave AT&T - after over 20 years, why would I - and I do plan to keep this phone for at least 4 years as I typically do, I think it's a good deal.

Yup! Good enough reason!

We have nothing that we touch more times per day than our phones! Studies have shown that we open/unlock our phones a ridiculously high number of times each morning, afternoon, and evening!

As such, it makes sense that it's the most pleasurable, effective, and efficient device we can get our hands on.

Right? Very sensible use of money.

Yes, but you are also paying a monthly fee for the NextUp program.

If they gave $1K for trade and the device was $1200-$1300 they didn't wave the difference, at least not that I saw.

A buddy of mine was doing that and his monthly bill was more expensive than mine for the same device, but I opted not to ever do that program.

See? A very sensible use of money considering how often you actually are touching, interacting with this device.

Much smarter to spend money on items that you actually use constantly, rather than items that you use only occasionally!

You do have a point
People buy things that they only use rarely, like clothing, or having a living room just for show - a room that they almost never sit in, unless company comes to visit, like 3 times a year!

What a waste!

Or, they have a second car that they drive less than once a month! Imagine the purchase price, the maintenence costs, the insurance!

With us interacting with our phones something like 80 times just in the mornings, well, it's clear.

The retail was $999, and for the pre-order promo, they bumped the storage from 256 to 512. Plus, I decided not to do the NextUp. So I'm actually not paying the extra 6 bucks a month.

I hate having to wait for that $50 pre-reserve credit. I've usually gotten it early enough to not cause problems, but I remember some getting it late in the day. They should just send it as soon as we sign up.

I totally agree! When I bought the 24 I got the email after I ordered it. Had to cancel and redo-it and we all know how well the shop app works on preorders.
