Who's switching from getting the EVO LTE to the SGS3?

Samsung Galaxy S III coming to Sprint, sources say | The Verge

the verge confirmed sprint will get it. i think the phone will look very different when it actually comes to sprint. just look at the s1(w/ keyboard), and s2(4.5 vs 4.3 international). even the evo itself is very different from the international version. most likely sprint will change different parts of the hardware of the phone.

I'm guessing the changes will be -

1. S4 instead of Exonys
2. no physical home button
3. possible change in body design due to #2

All these changes will be quite welcome. I'm actually praying Verizon gets this in time so I can have actual LTE.

I was hoping to get the S3, but the lack of dedicated hardware shutter button for me makes it a fail. I think I'm going EVO LTE.

Evo for me. I just prefer sense over wiz. My wife has s2 touch its a better phone than my og evo but I like htc build quality better. I used to have a diamond touch then got evo, and its been hard for othee manufacturers to pry me away from htc. That doesn't mean they don't make quality products. Htc IMO is just now catching Sammy in screen quality.

Will most likely get the GS3. I think the evo is a better phone. But sadly its only on sprints dial up network.

So evolte and 50kbps until 2014.
Or
GS3 and hspa and lte now.

Seeing the beautiful presentation and display of new technology that Samsung has announced on this GS3 has made me not as excited as I was about the new EVO. Am I the only one who now feels that HTC is not pushing innovation? They're just keeping up with the Joneses.... Not one single interesting new or innovative addition with the new EVO. I'm sad now but at the same time, i've had my EVO 4G for 2 years now and am itching to upgrade soon. I can't wait on Sammy.

Samsung got my money once, never again. I waited months for the Galaxy S (AT&T) and then waited 9+ months for the GPS to work.

Give me HTC who does updates often and is responsive to problems. Still loving my og EVO.

I'm a little confused by your comment. HTC has the first phone out with these specs, pushing the independent camera processing and a lauded design. wh as ts not innovative about their micro arc process?

I am never gettin that SG3...Not that cheap looking piece of gimmickly CRAP ... EVO 4G LTE here me come ...

The new TouchWiz has a lot more features compared to Sense 4. Really I can't think of any new features in Sense 4 other than the camera software.

I think you better take a better second third and fourth look at sense again...Do you not find the S3 also very gimmickly..and CHEAP LOOKING..

I am in for S3, was going to pick up the E4GLTE but since there is no LTE yet why not wait it out a little longer with my S2. It really bothers me how locked down HTC phones are, and the way HTC is handling/limiting the unlocking process.

I keep seeing this mentioned a lot. Can you summarize, or point to a good layman description of what the deal with this is/implications are? I found it relatively painless (following online instructions) to root and install a custom ROM on my OptimusS. I'm wondering if it will be more of a pain with the EVO LTE if/when I decide to do it (and if it can be done...?)?

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is a better device than both the ONE X and the new Galaxy 3. Here's why....
1. Kickstand (works in 3 different positions)(not on ONE X or S3)
2. Dedicated camera button (not on ONE X or S3)
3. SD card slot (not on ONE X)
4. Better camera (than the S3)
5. Better battery (than ONE X)
6. Better screen (than S3)
7. Aluminum body (plastic on ONE X & S3)
8. Beats Audio (not on S3)
9. Released on 18 May (June for S3)
10. HD Voice (not on ONE X or S3)
11. Unlimited data on Sprint (with LTE, data will download quickly)(not on ONE X or S3)
12. $199.00 (S3 price unknown)
13. Samsung DO NOT LIKE TO UPDATE THEIR PHONES.

Sprint hasn't turned on it's LTE yet, but from researching the matter, it will be very very soon.

EVO for me. Not that impressed with Samsung phones. Have been very happy with my 2 EVOs.

I'm sticking to the Evo. I do like the technology that Samsung brings to the table but I don't care for TouchWiz nor their total lack of timely updates. If course, I do own a Galaxy Tab 10.1 which still has no ICS update so I'm probably bitter haha.

But seriously, I don't want plastic devices anymore and I prefer the shutter button. Those two points alone make me prefer the Evo.

I am sticking with the EVO as well, Had my EVO since release date. My wife got a Samsung intercept (sorry Phone) tried to get her to get an EVO but no.....Well almost 8 mth later her Sammy went south. Got her an EVO and she has loved it.....As far as the battery, I may have taken mine out once or twice since I owned it, bought 2 spares and use them once, not enough to carry around. My battery last all day and then some now.
The only thing I can really complaing about it my 3g speed has never been very fast unless I am somewhere in a full signal area. 4g is much faster when I can find it.

I'm picking the EVO LTE as better as well, but...

7. Aluminum body (plastic on ONE X & S3)
I wonder if this could be a negative for reception?

8. Beats Audio (not on S3)
Reviews have reported default audio (without Beats turned off) is very tinny and sub-par compared to default audio on any other average device. Sounds like "Beats" is just a good EQ setting, and without it is just a bad EQ setting. I dunno, just seems gimmicky.

9. Released on 18 May (June for S3)
Where did you get June for S3 from? I thought May 29 for Europe only was confirmed so far.

10. HD Voice (not on ONE X or S3)
HD Voice only works between other phones (just EVO LTE?) that also have HD Voice, and only when both are calling through the Sprint network, and only once they create an HD Voice network ("Sprint expects to deploy HD Voice capable networks in the future"). This one seems gimmicky too. At least for now..

11. Unlimited data on Sprint (with LTE, data will download quickly)(not on ONE X or S3)
S3 will of course have LTE on Sprint... right?
