Why all the hate?

I missed the memo where everyone was informed that the Thunderbolt was the new red-headed stepchild. They complain about it on the podcast like it's utter , but then the only thing they mention specifically is the coating on the kickstand peeling. Am I missing something else that makes it worthy of such disdain?

My battery life's never been as horrible as I read about. And isn't that the first thing everybody complains anyway? It's par for the course by now.

I think it's gotten a bad rap because it was the trailblazer as far as 4g goes.

that's how Android works. "what's next. What's next" we got gingerbread and now "where's ICS? " I find that most Android people on this site hates what they have and nothing is as good as it should be.

I really like mine a lot. Maybe I have different expectations but I don't find the battery all that bad. Oh yeah... My kickstand is peeling. Who cares?

I've never understood the disdain either because the Thunderbolt really is a solid phone and is fully capable of decent battery life. An example and typical for me, going on 26 hours with the standard battery and just now down to approx. 20% left, the entire time in full LTE! Granted most of that time the phone wasn't being used (approx. two hours awake time), but I'd say that's pretty good battery life! Not using any apps to save battery either, screen brightness is set to auto with a 30 second timeout and syncing is minimized to just one GMail account and the Sense weather widget default of every 3 hours. All stock setup with only 12 installed apps, none of which auto start or run in the background. :)

I am a redhead. LOL. And if this is the redheaded stepchild then I am all over it! It has had its quirks but have dealt and fixed. I love this phone even tho I had a few difficult moments. Nothing that couldn't be resolved. No phone is perfect. But this has been one sweet device. Bionic users have huge complaints. This is a great device and strangers ask me to show it off. I wont allow people to touch it but I like showing it off.

And the Thunder rolls!

The only thing I don't like about this phone is feeling like I have to defend it from all of the haters. It does everything I could hope for and more, and it does it with ease. People can say what they want about it; I know it's a great phone and that's the only opinion I'm listening to.

That's why we band together defending it.

I'll defend as well. I bought two additional batteries expecting to have problems and I have never used them. A charge will last me anywhere between 24-36 hours and I'm using corporate email. My kickstand is peeling as well. Sometimes I cry about it, but most of the time not. I love this phone

Haters are typically repeating like records or don't know/don't bother to actually figure out how a phone works.

It's no iPhone but anyone can figure it out.

Initially it did have a few bugs thou. Honestly there isn't another phone out yet that I'd trade it for on VZW. Once the Galaxy and Vigor come out...
Of course I'm speaking as a root user though so that aspect changes a lot.

Kickstand honestly is the best feature. Pre Bolt I couldn't care but now that I have it I don't want to let go.

I for one am glad for the complainers and whiners. One in particular, the one who sold me his bolt on the cheep. I'm as happy as a pig in shizzle I have a stock and rooted Bolt. As for the rest of the whiners .... would you like some cheese with that whine? My Bolt will kick butt until I up for an upgrade and for a while after that because I see no reason to change.

Seriously, why bother defending a phone? The only thing that matters is that you like what you have. I don't mind the phone, but its battery life was dismal and forced me to buy an extended battery. And I'm not too happy about these creaking stock and extended battery doors. But I can live with it until my RAZR arrives. I will admit that my only gigantic issue would be the MR1 update which drained my stock battery within 2 hours in standby mode. No rogue applications in the menu, just unexplainable drain. Suites me more, but that of course is just me. :)

Got to agree.

This phone has worked pretty well for me. The processor is quick enough, with little noticeable lag.
The size is just about perfect for my hands.
I'm good with the button placement.
Plenty of ram and rom.
The screen is useable in the sun, though I will always wish for brighter.
The screen resolution is fine.
The battery went 16 hours yesterday and dropped to just below 40% with normal use. I will always want more and more, but that works well.

And the new Gingerbread now includes the new 'random ringtone' feature.
:D

So, as always, I can hope for more, but my TB works well and I don't understand the hate.

Actually, yes I do. There are a couple of new 4G devices coming out, and the haters want the new devices, just because they are new. But, they are still under the 2 years contract, so what we get to listen to is their HATE for the TB. So every little flaw, peeling paint, whatever, is like a huge tumor to them.

I love this phone, I also have the Sensation from T-Mobile S-Off and rooted running CM7. Yes my Thunderbolt is also S-Off, rooted and running KillaSense. My Thunderbolt has been so stable I use it as my daily phone and it is fast. Being rooted with custom Rom I use it for tethering, Oh yes I have unlimmited data plan from Verizon and I do not abuse it.
PS
Thunderbolt is a great phone, my kickstand is NOT peeling.

It had it's problems, some of them serious. I was lucky in that the only issue that hit my phone was the vm notification with the initial 605.3 GB update. But in all, it's quite a decent phone. For a trailblazer, it got it's fair share of issues. The lack of video chat was the most glaring initial issue, but the media made more hoopla over the battery issue than reality dictated. How many phones can you really use for over 2-3 hours and not have the battery drain, that utilized a 4.3" screen? An iphone? Please, of course with that tiny screen. the thunderbolt has come into it's own and most of the issues have been addressed. I love this phone and am not even worried about plugging it in all the tim anymore. My phone lasts over 16 hours on a full charge with a realistic 2-2.5 hours of actual uptime. This is with 4G, no wifi, and GPS on with screen on auto brightness. And since the modding community had adopted this phone with open arms, the possibilities are endless. I plan on keeping this phone for the full two years.

what about the build quality...another mark against this phone. people bash it all the time, and besides a little light bleed, and the peeling kickstand, i find this phone on par with my droid x.
i just dont get it.

i love my TB, and while i am itching to get rid of it for the nexus, i am in no rush to do so. i can wait 4 months no problem.

battery life is a moot point to me...all LTE phones suck. get another battery and a charger off amazon for $15 and stop complaining.

+1

The peeling thing is so laughable. That is like saying "I don't like my car because it has a scratch".

I would be more mad about it not having GORILLA glass and cracking so easily.....no, "whah whah, my kickstand is peeling"

Love my bolt. It really is a pocket computer that happens to have a phone app. The only issue I have had was with getting the OTAs. Pushed the latest and couldn't be happier.
