Android Central Question

Hello,

I'm running the Android 7.0 OS with an October 1st, 2017 security patch on a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I use a fully updated version of Chrome from the google play store. I do not have root access, I do not side-load any apps, and I generally don't do anything sketchy on the phone.

When browsing certain websites I get suddenly redirected to pages that have a url of the form (long_string_of_letters_and_numbers).cloudfront.net. These sites tell me that I've won an amazon gift card or something along those lines, and try to get me to give them information.

I've tried force-stopping chrome, clearing my cache and all app data, and rebooting, but it didn't resolve the issue. I also did a factory reset on my phone, but still had the issue. Finally, I even replaced the phone with a new S7 recently because I accidentally smashed the screen on my old one, and the new phone is doing it too.

Normally I would just stop visiting the problem sites, but one of them is one which I've been using regularly - without incident - for about 5 years now. Several of my friends are also able to browse the site without experiencing redirects, although we all have very different gear and carriers. So I'm wondering if there is something else going on with my phone/mobile carrier/whatever that is causing this issue.

The main site causing me trouble is d20PFSRD.com, although I'm also getting redirects on certain wikia sites, and the stardew valley wiki.

What should I try?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to Android Central! On Chrome (on both your computer and phone), go to the settings and clear browsing data "from the beginning of time." Does that do anything?
