Why am I no longer receiving text message?

I no longer receive text message

I'm using samsung galaxy grand 2 and I've upgraded it to 4.4.2 kitkat. the problem after i upgrade it is that my phone no longer receive messages. my mom sent me a text and it didnt get to my phone. no notifications and no message like it never existed. please help.. thankyou

Can you send Messages? Would be worth checking that your message centre number is correct.
