Why am I not able to send out text messages and why is my battery draining fast?

HTC One M8 issues

All of a sudden on Friday 11/14, my texts would not send out properly, and when it does, I would not get replies unless I restart my device. Also, I am not getting any notifications in my notification bar, I am not auto-switching from wifi to LTE, I literally have to turn off wifi, and my battery is draining twice as fast. Short of doing a master reset, I am out of ideas. Anyone else having these issues? They are random, but it appears to be related considering it happened at the same time. Note- I've updated to the latest OS about 3 weeks back.

Have you tried a Cache Partition wipe, as well as clearing the app Cached Data in Storage?
Also, I wonder whether it could be a duff SIM card?
