Why am I not receiving a call or verification code to verify my whatsapp. Fot

For example am requesting, afterwards am not given my varification code or either a call to verify my whatsapp. Yet the number is mine and it's active. What might be a problem. Am not getting the reply or codes. Why?

Sometimes these codes can take a while to come through. It could be their servers running slowly. I had this with user eats. It took 4 hours for the codes to come through. Then I had 3 come through at the same time.
