Why am I only getting audio on Chromecast but no video?

Chromecast no video only audio

I plugged my chromecast into the TV and it only uses the tv audio. I wanted surround, so i plugged it into my receiver. I used the slot where the DVD player was, so i made sure it was a good connection. The Denon AVR-1312 is the one i am currently using. I can only hear the audio with no video and i am currently streaming Netflix. I had best buy or Comcast set all it up thats as much as i know.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried plugging into any other available HDMI port in the receiver? Is there a Video Aux port? I have a different Denon receiver, and it works in that port. I haven't tried it in the DVD one.

The Receiever has 4 HDMI ports (Blueray, sat/cable, game, and DVD) Whenever we switch to the sat/cable port, the video and audio for cable works. But when the chromecast is in any of the ports, only audio works. That's the same for all of them. There is no video aux port. Theres only the 4 HMDI in ports and 1 HDMI out port that goes to the TV.
It does work when we plug the chromecast right into the TV and switch to the TV audio instead of surround sound, but then we would have to try to teach our mom how to switch between that and cable.
Ha sorry, I'm his sister and he went to work so I'm still trying to figure out the TV. It was a birthday present for our mom.

I do not believe the AVR-1312 will pass a video signal if the input (from Chromecast) does not match the TV's resolution. Try changing you TV's resolution.
