Why are my outgoing text messages stuck in Sending mode?

My outgoing text messages are stuck in "Sending" mode.

I have a galaxy S3 and from time to time (not often, but often enough) when I'm texting, the outgoing text messages would be stuck in "Sending Mode". My phone would say "sending" but does nothing else. I have to reboot, restart my phone several times, in order for it to work.

Is there a reason why it does this? or is it just a glitch in the system?

Is there a solution to this problem?

Try going to settings-applications, select the messaging app, and clear the cache.

Weird - my Galaxy S3 does that with email sometimes, but not texts.

It could also be a network problem, and in the time it takes to reboot your phone a few times they've fixed the problem. (Or the network was overloaded, and it cleared up - if it always happens at busy times, like right after 5PM, that's probably it. All the wives sending "bring home milk" texts.)
