Android Central Question

Got my phone fixed screen broke but lost loads of my contacts but there not showing on my SIM where they were saved

What phone do you have? I'd venture that there are very few, if any, these days that allow actually saving to the SIM card. I'd venture that your contacts were saved to the phone?

Not sure what carrier your on, but I know Verizon doesn't save contacts to a SIM and never have to my knowledge. They have also offered the ability to back them up for free since the flip phone days but most never bothered with the free service.

Your carrier might have a back up, they also should have been saved to your Google Account unless you chose to save them to local storage instead.

If you saved the numbers as Google contacts, they're at Google Contacts, and when you put that Google account back into the phone (and make sure Contacts syncing is enabled) they'll sync back to the phone.

If you saved them as Phone or Device contacts, they didn't get backed up - only Google contacts get backed up. (These days, that's your only choice. Saving the contacts on the SIM (before phones had their own storage) or on the phone is an old practice from before smart phones. Now we can save the contacts on the phones but as Google account contacts, so they're on the phone, but they get backed up. So there's no reason to save them as anything else.)
