While browsing through the Play store on Chrome I found apps like the google contact, google photoscanner and navbar app incompatible with my Huawei p8 lite running on EMUI 4 marshmallow.
Why is that a thing?

Hello! :)

Have you purchased your device brand new or second hand/refurbished?
Is your device possibly rooted?

If you are not sure, I suggest you to download this app:
https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...d=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=it&token=Oj4nx8BE

Run a verify and make sure your device is not rooted; the reason is that a wide range of applications won't run or result incompatible with rooted devices.

Update me about your progress ;)

google contact

Google Contacts in particular doesn't really have good coverage of devices. Refer to my thread about it.

But you can still install it, just like possibly many others that are deemed unsupported by the developer, by download the APK file directly from any website that hosts APK archives. I have installed the Google Contacts on my P8Lite in the same way, and works just fine.
