Why aren't the functions working on videos when I play them in Chromecast?

Need a bit of help with my Chromecast

Hey guys,

This may have been talked about in a previous thread, but I couldn't find it when I skimmed through the Forum, but my Chromecast is acting a little funny. I'll start a video (on YouTube for example) and I can't pause, skip forward, back or change videos without disconnecting the Chromecast and starting over. It plays and casts just fine, but if I pick a video I'm stuck watching it until it finishes. I've tried resetting the device, uninstalling the app, rebooting my phone, etc. and nothing seems to work. Maybe I'm just overlooking something, but if anyone could provide any info or help it would be greatly appreciated.

Does this happen if you cast from your computer as well? Did you reboot the Chromecast or factory reset it?

I haven't even tried it from my computer. I've only used my phone and my wife's (and hers does the same thing). I factory reset the Chromecast and.... nothing. Same thing happened.

When casting from the YouTube app for example, you are clicking the cast icon toward the top?

Yes. To get it to disconnect I have to either unplug the Chromecast or go to the cast icon, click on it to shut it off and disconnect (which it doesn't let me do every time). Most of the time though when the video is playing and I want to switch videos it will give me an error that says something to the effect of, "YouTube is not responding, blah, blah, blah", however the video continues to play. Weird.

Have you tried clearing the cache for the YouTube app? Settings>apps>scroll down to YouTube>click>click clear cache button. See if that helps.

I did that very thing last night thinking it might help, but to no avail. I don't know what's wrong with it. I'll just keep messing around with it and hopefully it'll figure itself out. Thanks for all your help though. Now if I can just get the AC Forums app to work!!! Haha.

Maybe sending an email here: accounts@mobilenations.com

Include your user name, and explain the issue. Ask if there is anything that can be done for logging into the app
