Why can I only hear calls using my speakerphone

While making and receiving phone calls I have to turn on my speakerphone to be able to hear the person I'm calling or receiving calls. The speaker is working because I can listen to music, hear alarms, hear incoming calls and texts notifications.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? The earpiece speaker is different from the main speaker. Your earpiece speaker is probably faulty. Bring it to a repair shop (or contact the manufacturer if it's still under warranty).
