Why can't I download updates on my Galaxy S9?

I've heard that unlocked Samsung Galaxy S9s now have Android Pie. However, whenever I try to update my unlocked S9, I get an error. "Unable to update the software. A network or server error occurred." Why is this happening? My phone hasn't updated, or even checked for updates automatically, since April of 2018. What's happening? If something is messed up here, how do I fix it?

Welcome to Android Central! What's the exact model number of the phone? When you say it's unlocked, is it "carrier agnostic," or did it originally come from a carrier, but it's carrier-unlocked?

It's "carrier agnostic". I bought it from Best Buy, and then installed my old phone's SIM card over. As for the model number, its: SM-G960U1.

Not that I know of. I don't have any reason to.
