Cannot edit contacts on Galaxy s5 ...

I just got the s5 and although I see all of my contacts, I can't edit any of them. I have been able to link but unable to edit...I'm starting hit my limit. I've checked all of the forums and they all say that I just need to hit the pencil when in the contact, but even with doing that I have no success.

I have a few other frustrating points such as twitter and my BBM contacts not moving into the contact list as well.

I've done something wrong in the setup and I can't figure out what! Anyone with any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you saying that you don't even get the option to edit, or that when you try to edit a contact, it never saves?

Re: Cannot edit contacts on Galaxy s5 ...

I have the same problem with S5 phone. The pencil edit icon is visible and when pressed, the upper part of the screen lightly flashes and nothing else will happen. The contact screen will not become editable and it will be as if the edit pencil icon was never pressed. I have restarted, looked for the answer and cannot find any setting that will address this. I can still edit my contacts from a computer using gmail, but not directly from the phone using the pencil edit icon. Please help.

Re: Cannot edit contacts on Galaxy s5 ...

Are you syncing from any other accounts? For example, when I sync my Skype contacts to the contacts app on my phone I cannot edit those contacts through the People application. Only those in my Google account can be edited directly.

I have a similar problem with my friend's Galaxy S5: she can't edit any contacts other than her own, as the pencil icon shows only when she selects her own profile, but not the other contacts (to which she wants to add email addresses, phone numbers, etc.).

I wiped the cache as you suggested further down, but to no avail.

If I am not mistaken, the contacts were introduced from within Skype (but I may be wrong).

You need to make sure your contacts are stored on your phone not your sim card, then to edit option is there

I have the YouMail app on my phone to handle all calls, voicemail, call forwarding, and such. I had the same edit-blocking issue, however, it was caused by the YouMail app. Once I uninstalled then re-installed the YouMail app, I attempted to edit a contact in my S5 Samsung. When I clicked on the edit pencil icon, a dialog box popped up asking if I prefer to use the YouMail edit method or the Contacts (Samsung) method. By selecting the Contacts (Samsung) method, my device allowed me to edit in the normal way once again! Now the Samsung edit pencil is the default method on my phone.
