Cannot open PDF attachments from Yahoo mail app on Galaxy S5

I have a Galaxy S5 and recently updated the Yahoo mail app. When I open an email with an attachment, when I click to view or save, if I click "view", it acts as if its loading, then gives me a pop-up that reads "This document cannot be opened". So far I have noticed this message when downloading PDF's. I have uninstalled and re-installed, and still getting same message.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you sure you have an app that can open PDF files?

i agree with B. Diddy it sounds like you do not have a PDF reader you can download the official app from adobe in the play store or there are many other options to give you the same functionality.

On my Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 I have to save the PDF attachment first. Then open it with a PDF reader if you can find it. Same problem when trying to read a PDF document on a web page. It will not open in the browser so you have to save it first. Windows solved this problem years ago. I don't know why android can't do it.

try saving the file first. you should get the download bar, etc. and when you do then you should be able to open it with the Adobe reader app

I'm having the exact same issue I've downloaded every pdf reader in app store nothing works now

Echoing JCott2, you may have to download the file first. This also might be an issue with the Yahoo app.

Whenever I click on a button.. Then the android pdf app automatically opens and while its loading it says can't open pdf file snd then closes. I am not even able to dowbload the file as i want to download but on clicking the button it just opens that f**king app.. Please so that whenever i click the button I get to chose which app I should use to open that file.. It should ask me..

I would try resetting app preferences in settings>apps>menu. That will clear all defaults. There may be one set that is causing this to happen.

I installed Yahoo Mail October 11 on Galaxy S5. Adobe and Polaris are both installed and work fine. No defaults set in Yahoo Mail app. Phone Software is up to date. I can open and download attachments using Gmail in the built in email app but Yahoo Mail fails with "Cannot Save Attachment ". I can forward the email to my Gmail and then download and open the same file on this same S5.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Yahoo Mail. Any suggestions?

I would try going to Yahoo mail on a browser, and try the same thing. If it works there, it is probably an app issue.

I was having the same issue with my dad's galaxy s7. I have a galaxy s6 edge and the yahoo mail app works perfectly with the free version of 'office suite + pdf editor', and I don't know why I didn't try this first, so I downloaded the app on his phone and it worked perfectly. Hope this info helps you guys.......

The install of Office Suite and Pdf Editor worked, thank you.
The post on selecting storage did not work as this was already set and still could not open PDF files.
