Why can't I pair my Samsung Galaxy S9 phone with my 2016 Honda H-RV

I have paired phones before in this car and know how to do it. Unless I need a special app or something for this phone? I have tried 2 different apps from the playstore which don't seem to work. . This phone cannot be found. Phone says bluetooth is on and is discoverable. S9 pairs with bluetooth speakers just fine.
