why can't I use my Gmail app.?

I can't say no or yes. I know that it's usually better to factory reset as this makes your phone take the update without any leftover files from the previous OS, so more bugs are avoided. But as to whether or not this will solve your problem (it should), I can't say for certain that it will.

Thanks again for your interest,I am very close to make the move of hard factory reset. The only thing is making me afraid a bit that as I read some people on the Forum sometimes a hard factory reset creates more bugs than you had before and if the reset does not even fixes the problem of what you are doing it for,you really wish you never started it .Well, let me procastrinate a little.

No problem, we're all here to try and help! And that's odd, I've usually heard the opposite!! Actually for a lot of S5 users and some Note 4 that have gotten the update to Lollipop, it seems that the common thing is that their phones start acting wonky after the update, but after a factory reset, it runs smoother and battery life comes back to normal.

But it is a PITA to do. I wish Android had a more iOS-like device backup, where all your apps and settings and stuff would just be transferred without so much hassle.
