Why can't view photos taken with my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini on my PC

I've figured this could be something to do with my PC but I can only view photos that I've downloaded onto my phone or memory card. I've tried looking in the phone and memory card folders when I've connected my phone onto the PC. Maybe need to change settings on either machine.

Welcome to Android Central! On the phone, when you connect via USB, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB connection icon. Make sure MTP is selected (or USB Mass Storage, if available).

On the computer, open Windows Explorer, and look for either the name of the device in the list, or a new drive letter (if you chose USB Mass Storage). You should be able to find the photos that way, in the /DCIM/Camera directory.
