Why can't they hear me?

When off the Speaker Phone mode and still in the call ask the person to hold on... then click the menu button on the bottom left of the phone (not on the screen on the phone itself) and turn noise reduction off.

When on speaker phone Noise reduction automatically turns off... that's why it works. Not sure if this is a solution or a workaround yet.

Well just bought the phone and the samething just happned to me and I know why it is doning it.Hold the button on the right side in until you see the poweroff screen pop up, at the very bottom of that menu you will see mute, vibrate and sound. on that menu the mute botton was lite up green I hit the sound button and it started to work just fine also make sure driving mode is off as well.

Hi Lafountain

I had a nightmare trying to sort out my Galaxy S3 with its Mic Problem. When I spoke on the phone people could not hear me clearly. I tried everything
on all the forums to resolve my problem but in vain, After much thinking I went about systematically excluding possibilities of things that may interfere, until
I FINALLY got it Solved. Now I do realise that different solutions helped different people, I trust my experience will help others.

What I tried which did not help me :
1. Reset the phone
2. Cleaned the hole at the bottom of the phone
3. Disabled the Secondary Mic ( At top of phone ) which plays a role in clearing background noise

What Helped and I will explain my Logic.
I went into the Settings > Motion >
Made sure everything that i felt was linked to the PROXIMITY SENSOR was disabled, as my thinking was the
muffled or muted sound of the Mic may be associated with a glitch that kicked in when the phone Proximity detected
something close ( my face when talking)

Switched off
> Turn Over to Mute
> Palm Touch to mute

And That was it , Mic Mic was restored to full function

Hope this helps.

You are amazing! Thanks it worked great for me..

Cheers,
Syed.

that is a good question...I had the phone since Sept and had no issues...started
having people tell me they could not hear me...I hear them fine. Sprint denies
any issues but I was able to get 2 new replacements. Same problem..
They blame me, and don't want to fix anymore...the only option they gave me
was a downgrade to another phone...downgrade really? that is not an option
said I am not eligible for an upgrade until next yr.
Their problem not mine...an upgrade is the least they should do...
have had Samsung phones since 2005 and never any issues
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i have the same problem for some reason when i call or when they call me on my s3 i hear just fine but they cant hear me... unless when i use a headset or switch it to speaker mode then everyone hears me

does anyone have a solution
*note: i hear them... they don't hear me... i have the s3 unit*

Want to thank you with this advance.

My friend have SS Galaxy Note 1, android ver 4.0, and we're from vietnam. Her phone have the same problem and ask my help, so i search and did like you, it worked.
Just a little difference, i don't know if it's because of the different phone : i couldn't find "palm touch", and "Proximity sensor" is in the "Call setting". So i turn off the "motion" in setting, and not turn off "Proximity sensor" yet, but somehow it worked.
So i wait, if the old problem happen, i will try turn off "proximity sensor".

Uh where is the speaker you put the needle to? Is it that really tiny hole at the bottom next to the area u charge the phone.

Be really, really darn careful sticking things in the microphone opening. Push a need in there too far you you'll probably punch a hole in the microphone and totally destroy it.

I I've just had this exact problem every time I phone people or they phone me, no body can hear me. I have to put it on speaker phone so they can hear me. It's ever since my phone upgraded. I have the new HTC one and have only had it a month.

dutchess, you're in a forum for the Galaxy S3. If you read all the posts in this thread you might find something that will help you, but you should probably ask in the HTC forums.

Hey everyone,

I'm only new on here but I came across this looking for a fix for my wife's phone. I just updated her software and she had the problems discussed here. I also had the same problem on my galaxy at one point. this may have already been said or is blatantly obvious to most, but if you go into settings-> accessibility and deselect turn all sounds off that fixed her issue. No one could hear her speak and now all good, I have o idea why the software update did this.

Hope that may help someone.

Same prob i could hear caller, they could,nt hear me!! Reset the phone, still same!! Gently waggled a needle in mic at bottom, cured 100~% fixed.:)

I didnt drop the phone or had an issue with it either. I took it to these android repair center telling them that I did some research on the net and seem like a well known issue and the guy looked at me like I was ****ting myself as if he never heard of a problem like this. after an hour i went bk there and they fixed it guys! under warranty and I was over the moon. so went to work and call my girl then few hours after Boom! the lil **** started to misbehave again... no sounds from caller (me) or callers (them) noone can hear anyone. so I just did what y'all said here and nothing working still. From within the Phone app you can try: Menu button -> Call settings -> Additional settings -> uncheck "Noise reduction".
You can also check Settings -> Accessibility -> be sure "Turn off all sounds" is unchecked.
What happens if you use the speakerphone?

In order of simplicity:
- reboot into Recovery mode and clear the cache
- perform a Factory Reset
- use the Kies software on your PC to reload the correct firmware
BTW, you didn't mention what happens if you use the speakerphone.
