Why did I suddenly lose so much space on my internal storage?

I have about 16GB of storage on my android phone, a Vivo 1609. I had about 76% of the space used last night, and this morning I woke up to find that about 97% of it was full. Obviously I didn't download anything. I cleaned out a few files and reduced it to 91% but I want to understand why the storage suddenly dropped 20% overnight. That's f@$%ed up.

Can you show screenshot of your storage space , 16gb can get filled really quick today.

So i screenshotted my vivo "i Manager" page to give a good visual summary of what's going on. And as you can see it doesn't add up... I'm 91% full and I'm only using about 9Gb (give or take). The storage used by the videos is only about 7.5 Gb, I just have the time to let it settle at that as it was tsking too long to show.
Again, I don't know why it spiked up like that suddenly... doesn't make sense.

You could use some clean up , but can you post where this specs are ? My example screenshot

It's your videos that's eating a lot of storage up , the andriod system typically takes up another 7 to 8 gb

DiskUsage can give you a more accurate view of what's taking up your storage.

Something off about that app shows everything in GB which dont make sense to me .

Main thing offload the video to google drive,sd card ,computer and you'll save 7GB right there , even documents same thing .

That's the SD card that you presumably have in the phone as well. Look for the Phone Storage or Internal Storage option.

Makes sense now thats what's on the sd card ..duh lol

You mean 2 GB, right? Were you streaming any media? Media apps can cache a lot of data during usage.
