Why did Verizon send this text?

Why would Verizon send me this text today, "Free VZW Msg. Great News! Your Droid X should now be on Android 2.2 software release", when I'm running System Version 2.3.340 and Android Version 2.2.1 already. Seems like downgrading, no?? Anyone else get this text today?

I received that as well even though I am already on 2.3.340 It is probably a generic text for android phones.

I got the same txt msg. I assume it was a global msg. I just ignored it.

That is different. The text was talking about the OS version. OS 2.3 would be Gingerbread. 2.3.340 is firmware.

Anyways, I believe that is a text going out to say that all STOCK Droid X phones are now on 2.2. Although it was very poorly worded. Nothing special here folks. Sorry.

got it and deleted it. Unles you bought a droid a month ago and never upgraded ota then delete that and ignore verizons stupidity
