Why did you upgrade your phone? How long do you wait before you usually upgrade?

I upgraded to an iPhone X from a Samsung Note 4. The phone was slow and the battery stopped holding a charge, and even new replacement batteries didn't last longer than a couple months.

Currently, I'm looking at coming back to Android, waiting for the Note 21 to launch.

I usually upgrade my phone every 16-18 months. I usually upgrade due to the fact that the battery on my current phone is showing some age; and/or lags and other issues are occurring with my device.

I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S10 last October from a Google Pixel 2. I'm really enjoying it, but I still miss Google.

So far all of my phone (feature and smart) upgrades have been forced on me either by the carrier dropping network support for the old phone or the phone failing.

My current phone is an LG V30 running android 9. Upgraded from the LG G4 in late 2017 when the G4 finally boot-looped. I was looking at the LG V60, but my V30 works great so that I have no NEED to upgrade.

I get a new phone if my internal storage is getting filled up, it goes haywire or the new phone has a compelling feature. (Whatever that might be)...

Bought the Note 20 Ultra simply to play with the camera, didn't need the phone, and still use my Note 8 as my daily because I prefer it.

My Galaxy S8 is my 1st cell phone I ever bought except for the cheap flip phones. I bought it in March 2018, phone starting to not last very long on a full charge + phone acts up at times. I'm interested in the Note 20 Ultra but the S21 Ultra is better, I do however like the shape/size of the Note + the S Pen and SD slot.

I get a phone when it goes on special offer usually. I had an iPhone 6s when they had been out for a year and got the Pixel 2 when it was released. That was my first flagship phone bought at launch since the Galaxy S3 in 2013. I kept that 2 years and bought the 4xl after I came out of hospital (kind of a thanks for not dying gift from my mum and husband) but then the S10+ ceramic went on sale for £699 in my catalogue about 2 weeks before the S20 series was released so I got that and my husband got the 4xl to replace his broken 2xl. But today I am getting a 4a 5g as a spare phone as it is £100 off for valentines day and it is only £399. I won't get another phone for a while. I will replace the battery on my S10+ in the summer as it is getting pretty bad. But the phone is still immaculate and does everything I want it to do. Plus it still has the headphone jack, sd card and 512GB storage. So not feeling the newer Samsungs so much.

I feel you! Phones are so expensive nowadays that you are forced to wait longer so you can pay them off. That's how I feel with my current phone!

Most of the people I know with the new iPhone or Samsung flagships just use them to watch videos and browse facebook. They have no clue how to use the new camera features/other gimmicks.

For the price of a flagship, you can now buy a decent gaming PC, or a mid-tier phone and a gaming console. absolutely nuts how effective the marketing is

You're right about being able to buy a bunch of technology for the price of a flagship. You could buy a PS5 and then a mid-range phone for the price or a flagship phone. Unbelievable!

I "upgrade" when I want to AND there's a good enough deal. Haven't paid "full" price for a new phone in a long time.

I've never paid full price for a phone, and never will....too many great deals out there if you're patient and you look. B&H always has crazy good clearance deals on brand new phones if you check in regularly ;)

And I upgrade my phones when I get sick of looking at them, or they start to have problems... whichever comes first. In other words a long time lol.
