Why didn't google remove the 3.5mm headphone input?

Because It still is very very much useful and Many people still have headphones/earphones with the jack. We can lose it when the market matures more for this case.

Constantly plugging and unplugging to a USB connector, C or any other? No, the connector isn't made for that. (Even charging through it every day is misuse.) A 3.5mm connector is MUCH more vigorous.

I would definitely agree with this, The charging port is already used at least once per day, and now we are adding to that by making it the Audio port. Just going to make the charging port break quicker. I don't mind the headphone jack going away so it can be replaced by 'Audio Jack 2.0', but they must still keep a 'Audio Port'.

I don't mind doing away with the 3.5 mm headphone connector. What I mind though is not having any built-in option to charge the phone while listening to music. Why mobile companies are so desperately trying to make phones so slim? Practically a phone can only be slim upto a point. I thought moving forward was about having more options at the same time.

I use bluettoth headset most of the time, but there are sill cases where I end up charging my headset and phone. In those cases 3.5mm jack saves the day.
As it was mentioned before: making changes for sake of changes is not always a good choice.

Removing the headphone port from the iPhone was a money grab by Apple plain and simple.

I'm glad that 3.5mm mini jack can be found in new Pixels. I really like my current headphones and I don't want to use any adapters.

The lady in the cubicle next to me at work has the IP7, she has to charge it every day because she forgets to at night. She used to sit with the phone plugged in with youtube videos going all day but not now, she can't, she has to stop listening to stuff while she charges. Seems stupid to me.

Weigh the cost / benefits. Benefits would be extra real estate to have more stuff in the phone, that would be nice. Costs - many users probably that would be a deal-breaker. I think the sampling on this thread alone shows that many of us still use it

But what is out now that they need the extra space? I think ppl wouldn't be as opposed to it if they replaced it with an actual beneficial feature.. The iPhone added a haptic feedback and IDK what moto added but neither of them added what the majority of ppl finds necessary

I want to say no just to go anti iPhone. But the truth is the headphone jack can be done away with in my opinion. I've been using bluetooth bluetooth-headsets-headphones for a while now and wireless is the way to go. And for those times you need a wired connection for your listening pleasure, I think they should just do audio over USB C like the OP suggested.

I don't think phones should be required to be water resistant if it will make the sound not as good I think the companies should just provide a case that provides water proofing...

Not really, I honestly don't care lol

But

See how when something is not important to u or u may not use something it doesn't take away from other ppl desiring it

It may be old but it's very useful. Glad it's still around.

This exactly. Are they being innovative by removing the jack and replacing it with a new standard? No.
Do they think they're being disruptive? Yes, at the user's expense.
