Why do I need a case?

Roocase makes some nice stuff. I have their slim folio case for my 2012 Nexus 7, and it looks and feels awesome.

I use a case because I'm a klutz and hope that it'll give it some protection when I inevitably drop it, or miss the table, or walk into a wall :).

I ordered a case for my son's because he worked hard and earned the $$ for the tablet and I would hate to see that work wasted becasue My father in law though the nexus 7 was a coaster.

This just came across my head last night. One of the benefits reason to get a case is to not having to worry when prolong using the device you would get heat burns on your hand from the back of the cpu running hot.

I don't like cases either because I use my tablet at home. The only reason I got an case was because my Nexus 7 got a lot of dust particles on the screen when I left it overnight and when I was away so I didn't want to clean the Nexus 7 every time I used it and the Sleep/Wake feature on my case is also pretty cool. It can also turn into a stand but I like holding it in my hands.

I use a case because I like keeping my scratch free. I use a case/skin on my MacBook for the same reason.

One good thing about doing that is you get top dollar if you trade in the unit when the new model comes out. Remember, only 10 more months until the replacement Nexus 7 arrives.

I am all about not having a case either but I still have one anyways, and a big one at that:

Amazon.com: Poetic REVOLUTION Case for Google Nexus 7 FHD 2nd Gen 2013 Android Tablet Black (3 Year Manufacturer Warranty From Poetic): Computers & Accessories

I love how the nexus looks naked and when I pick the N5 up, the both are going to look amazing together but covering it up is still something that I choose to do because I want to keep the back as clean as possible. I'm 18 and my parents spoil the *&^% out of me but I don't take that chance to screw up my tablet because even though I can still get a new one if it breaks, I don't want that to happen. Before I got the case I mentioned up top, I had this one:

Amazon.com: ASUS New Nexus 7 FHD (2013) Experience Cover - Black: Computers & Accessories

I felt this was too thin and made the tablet uglier while not really doing much for protection so I went with the poetic-like otterbox which is better than any otterbox I've ever come across with. It's practically drop-proof and it has covers for the headphone and micro-usb hole to prevent dust and such and this case honestly looks great. I like the added bulk and I know it won't break even though if I do break it, I'll get a new one. Not to mention the case has a two-stage stand.

What I'm trying to say is that a lot of people don't like cases but put one on anyways whether it be for their satisfaction or to keep it clean from fingerprints and such. Just my $.02.

Sooner or later, it will slip from your hand, or it will drop from a table because it was resting on a pile of loose paper, or something like that, and when it hits the floor, you'll be praying that the screen didn't crack or that there wasn't any internal damage. Just sift through the forums here, or look at the pictures of shattered screens on any Google+ Nexus 7 community. Better to be safe than sorry!

What he said. This happened to my tablet... :(

I have a cover on my tablet because I put my tablet in my purse and I want to protect the screen from the other junk in there. I just bought the new Nexus 7 (with LTE) and I'm using the Poetic Slimline cover. Love the tablet and the cover fits perfectly.

I too have a poetic slimline case for my N7(2013) and I m just loving this case..Now my tab is pretty much safe in that case...!!!

I use a case primarily because of the stand and secondarily as protection for placing inside a bag when going places
