Why do I suddenly have different Facebook accounts on mobile and laptop?

I have no idea why, but a couple of weeks ago, my Facebook profiles on my laptop and my phone disconnected and a new one appeared on my phone. I'm at a total loss and I can't seem.to log in to the correct account on my phone. The laptop one is fine and I can see all those important photos from friends about the meal they're about to eat etc. It's just puzzling. Any ideas?

I've tried logging out, but on logging in it asks for my phone number, sends me.to the (correct) account and then wants to verify the login with a.mobile.number I haven't used in years. Weirdness.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you ever enter a newer verification number, or has it always been that older number? Are you able to change the verification number using the Facebook website on your computer browser?
