I don't think you can say most Android users hate TouchWiz as Uncle Sammy sells a buttload and a half units every quarter since how long???
Again; I think it is antithetical to experienced users who mod. For those who just want a phone, they like all that icing. Makes 'em feel like they get bang for their buck or something.

I think for those that don't know better TouchWiz is prolly fine. As I've seen previously, only after you've used Nova, Apex, Go or whatever do you realize TouchWiz' severe limits.

Maybe they are buying the phone in spite of Touchwiz, and not because of it? We're not making up the Touchwiz hate...it's almost a cliche it is so common.

I'm not a TouchWiz fan at all... and your post seems to indicate you think I am supporting it. I'm just throwing out a theory.
I'm sure 10's of millions of people each and every quarter for years on end are not all going, "Meh, I loathe TouchWiz, but what the hey; I'll pony up a bunch of cash for one of those Samsung phones anyway."
Let's not let our own prejudice against TouchWiz cause us to utter naivetes that could not possibly be true.

I add the Uncle onto lots of things, been dong it for decades. And since when is Uncle Sam referred to as Uncle Sammy? It's a mocking sort of thing... like adding respect where none is actually intended; indicated by the diminutive used immediately following the honorific. Contextually it should have been very clear.

It is possible people hate touchwiz and still buy Samsung products because of the hardware. It's not a wild theory...Samsung makes objectively good hardware.
My post merely offers an alternative to your theory...it has nothing to do with whether or not you personally like Touchwiz.

I'm not as sure as you are. I have seen no evidence that Touchwiz is why people want Samsung phones. I know dozens of people with Samsung phones, and not one of them claims to like touchwiz...at best they are indifferent. That anecdotal evidence is what I base my opinion on.

If you like to mod or you're extremely into the aesthetics of UI's you don't like TouchWiz/Sense.
If you are a heavy day to day user intent on getting things done, they are 'OK', Functional.
My main concern is avoiding a new learning curve every year. It is frustrating to be forced to take time to figure out radical new UI's.
Bloat is like Fleas on a dog. I have never become a user of any application that was forced on me by a manufacturer or phone company.

I totally agree. Thats why it would be nicve to have the option to uninstall these skins. Different strokes for different folks...not everyone will like Touchwiz, right?
So do I...but Google does not throw roadblocks in your way if you want to root. Samsung does. Samsung does not want you bypassing Touchwiz.

I wonder why Samsung cares. They could simply choose not to provide warranty service on phones that they believe have been...molested.

I'm guessing you're running your windows account as "administrator" right? Everyone does.. it has the least restrictions to install apps/modify the core OS.. That is a right you have because it's your hardware.
What if Dell, HP.. Lenovo.. or any of the other big players out there locked you out from admin on your computer and made you run everything as a "User" account.. how long do you think those companies would be in business?
Yet this is EXACTLY what the cell phone manufacturers are doing every. single. day.
If you break your windows machine, you can easily re-install windows. Instead of cell phone manufacturers voiding warranties, they should simply provide the tools to reinstall the OS on an Android device.. It makes 0 sense why we continue let this crap happen.

It isn't a matter of risk reduction IMO...it's a matter of image. If people started dumping touchwiz en masse, how would that make touchwiz look?
Honestly I think it has to do with corporate politics. The people in charge of touchwiz have convinced Samsung that it is vital to Samsung's success.

The fact that alternatives exist does not mean Samsung should not be criticized.
