Why do most people hate TouchWiz?

Why ?
It looks very cartoonish/childish, tons of bloatware, doesn't resemble the stock Android UI

It's weird, I don't even remember what TouchWiz looks like. I've had Nova on my Note 3 and S5 since the first hour I've had them. The behind-the-scenes TouchWiz settings pages and notification bar certainly don't look bad or work poorly in my experience.

Yeah installing Apex, Nova launcher is the easiest and best way to get a more stock experience. I honestly don't know if the behind the scenes settings are that different ? But the home screen is like light and day on Apex, Nova

TouchWiz does allow you to easily change fonts without root. That's not a bad thing in my book.

Oh didn't know that I just don't like the cartoonish look and bloat of it. It will for sure be a challenge getting all the S Pen feature without using touchwizz on the N 4.

I guess it's just a matter of taste...I personally hate them. My BF has a S3 and navigating those menus is kind of a mess compared to the Neuxs. I hate his dialer as well.

What is TouchWiz. Never heard about it :S

It's the skin Samsung overlays on stock Android. HTC has Sense, Samsung has TouchWiz, LG has (Optimus UX?). Motorola and Google have no skins on their phones.

I'm not saying I agree with the idea but I think Samsung believes their additives in TouchWiz actually make their product better. Not sure what feedback their market studies have provided that would support that but it is indeed interesting that they feel it's a positive thing versus what we're seeing in these comments.

Even on the sites where Touchwiz does not do so bad there is not a majority that likes it. It's not an asset. At best it's something people put up with.

I just don't get how everyone can understand that but Samsung. Are they really that stubborn? Well, as long as Nova continues to have the effect on TouchWiz that it's had for me (completely negates it) I'm completely fine. Perhaps Samsung just figures if you don't like their TouchWiz you'll just add your own launcher (why would anyone just settle for TouchWiz if it's as bad as some say?). Guess Samsung thinks they have to throw something on there to differentiate their products and since sales are great they think folks love TouchWiz.

Definitely.

It's not like it's the first time this has happened. Remember when people were saying similar things to Microsoft about WP and to blackberry and to Nokia? Samsung won't get it till they see sales tanking severely, and maybe not even then. I would include Apple with MS and BB, except that they seem to be actually paying attention on some things (extension support, larger formfactor, ect). MS is truely clueless on WP, and BB is basically the walking dead now.

Samsung has managed to maintain this delusion because they do make good hardware, and people are willing to buy their phones because of the hardware. The GS5 has the best display of any phone released so far. Samsung phones always have SD support and removable batteries, and remain thin despite these options (and it's even waterproof). Samsung cameras are always pretty good if not excellent. People can forgive a lot for hardware this good.

No. If Samsung could get away with removing your option to use a launcher, they would. You are not using Nova Launcher with their blessing...they want you using touchwiz.

It's rather odd because they don't really market touch wiz. Mostly hardware specs and taking shots at apple.

Probably 95% of people with a Samsung phone think touch wiz is android, so I doubt if there's going to be any backlash.
