Why do movies play so dark on my Galaxy Note 10.1?

why do movies play so dark on my galaxy note 10.1?

When ever there is a night scene, tunnel, dark hallway, etc. It gets darker then usual and I can't make out the image. Don't remember it having this issue before. Is there a way to change visual settings?

Welcome to Android Central! Which app are you using to watch movies? Are these streaming movies, or locally saved movie files? Video player apps often have their own brightness controls that are separate from the system brightness, so make sure the app's brightness is turned up.

B.Diddy thanks for answering. I've used MX player, VLC, and its internal video player. Streamed and videos downloaded all give the same result of darkness. Most "players" dont offer a brightness feature. The internal player offers a "outside" feature which helps a little but not enough to make the image out

I know for a fact that MX Player has its own brightness setting--does that help at all?

Yes I have tried that and still same results.. Do you think it a backlight problem?

If it only happens in dark scenes, I can't imagine that it would be a backlight problem. Everything else looks normal brightness when you're using other apps?

Yes the other apps have no issues its only video that has problems
